One WPIAL softball team debuts, another exits Trib HSSN softball state rankings

There was only one change at the top in this week’s Trib HSSN state softball rankings.

District 6 power Philipsburg-Osceola dropped to No. 3 in Class 3A after the Mounties suffered their first loss of the season. Undefeated Pine Grove from District 11 takes over the top spot in 3A.

Other significant changes included:

Exiting from the state rankings were Malvern Villa Maria Academy, General McLane, Kutztown, Claysburg-Kimmel, Faith Christian and WPIAL rep Frazier in Class 2A.

New to this week state top five are Hampton from the WPIAL in Class 5A, along with Hanover, Bald Eagle, Holy Cross, Bristol and Nativity BVM.

Here is the latest PIAA Top 5 in each of the six classifications through Thursday’s games.
