Mt. Pleasant softball pitcher Carolyn Alincic has been dominant all season.

But the Vikings’ only senior did something Thursday she had not done this season — or in her career: She tossed a complete-game no-hitter.

The Section 1-4A champion Vikings (14-0, 10-0), ranked No. 1 in WPIAL Class 4A, blanked Highlands, 5-0.

Alincic, a fast-throwing Morehead State commit, struck out 16 of the 23 batters she faced and walked just two over seven innings.

She threw 97 pitches.

“It was tough for sure,” said Alincic, who announced she has been nominated for Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year. “That was the third game I’ve pitched this week so I could really feel myself starting to get tired. I just had to focus a ton on my mechanics.”

Alincic and sophomore teammate Mary Smithnosky have combined for seven shutouts this season.

Sophomore Haylie Brunson homered, doubled and drove in a pair of runs in the Vikings’ latest victory.
