He is a two-time PIAA Class AAA runner-up and a three-time WPIAL champion.
Phipps has a career record of 111-9. He placed seventh in the state in 2017.
He injured his foot during a PIAA semifinal-round victory against Council Rock South’s Shane Hanson-Ashworth, 5-3, in overtime. After a visit to the hospital, Phipps returned to the Giant Center with a boot on his foot.
Despite the injury, Phipps battled Nazareth’s Sean Pierson but dropped a hard-fought, 9-5 decision.
