Fintan Brose didn’t waste any time making a decision about his college future.

The Hempfield rising senior announced Friday he will join his brother, Braden, at Delaware. Braden is a sophomore tight end for the Blue Hens.

A 6-foot-3, 285-pound offensive and defensive lineman and a TribLive HSSN Preseason Top 25 player, Brose said he felt the Blue Hens were the right fit.

“It’s where I want to be the next four, five, six years,” Fintan Brose said. “It’s the right place for me. I like the coaches and everything about the program.”

Brose, a second-team all-conference defensive tackle in 2018, had 23 offers and chose Delaware over Vanderbilt, Air Force, Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Florida International, Fordham, Harvard, Holy Cross, Kent State, Lehigh, Massachusetts, Navy, Ohio, Princeton, Richmond, Robert Morris, Tulane, Villanova, William & Mary, Yale and Youngstown State.

Brose said he tried to visit as many schools as possible. He said he wants to win and play for a team where he could perform well and also plays competitive football.

“He’s going to a school that has his major and plays in a great conference,” Hempfield coach Rich Bowen said.

“It’s a bonus for his family, too, with Braden there. It will be easier for them, travel-wise. Fintan could play at any level, even a Power-5 level if he wanted to. His best football is ahead of him. He’s a great get for Delaware.”

The Blue Hens, who have won six national titles, returned to the FCS playoffs in 2018 for the first time since losing to Eastern Washington, 20-19, in the championship game in 2010.

Fintan Brose will not turn 18 until next July.
