Andrew Muraco always dreamed of playing Division I baseball but the actuality he could do so began to take shape last year when he was a freshman at Franklin Regional.

After two seasons at the high school level — and a growing reputation as a gamer in travel baseball — he will get his chance to play at the next level.

Muraco, a rising junior, accepted a scholarship offer from Coastal Carolina.

“This year, it just started to become more of a reality when so many schools came on board,” he said.

Muraco, a right-hander who is a pitcher and infielder, went 7-1 this spring season with a 1.30 ERA. His only loss came in the PIAA Class 5A quarterfinals.

He was recruited as a position player but said he could have an opportunity to pitch.

“The academic and athletic opportunities at Coastal Carolina was just a great fit for me and my family,” he said. “Coastal has always been my dream school ever since they won the (2016) World Series, and the coaching staff is amazing. They are so welcoming and gave me an amazing vibe. I always wanted to go down south also.”

This summer, he hit .430 with five home runs in 40 games with the Team All-American.
