North Catholic transfer Jayden Sharpless, the top WPIAL girls soccer player last season, will learn this week whether she can play this fall.
The sophomore has an eligibility hearing Thursday at the WPIAL office in Green Tree.
Sharpless was the TribLive HSSN Girls Soccer Player of the Year last season at Freedom before transferring to North Catholic. Freedom’s administration flagged her move as potentially motivated by athletics, and the WPIAL ruled her ineligible last month based on that paperwork.
North Catholic requested a hearing to appeal that decision.
Sharpless scored 64 goals last season and led Freedom to a WPIAL Class A title and a runner-up finish in the state tournament.
