August football is in the books and September football kicks off for most teams, including all the scrimmaging teams that weren’t part of the Week Zero fun and frivolity.
Well, at least it was fun for those who won.
For six teams ranked in the inaugural 2023 Trib HSSN PIAA football rankings last week, the zero from Week Zero still represents the victory column for this season.
Three of those teams that came up on the short end of the stick drop from this week’s Top 5.
The top teams all remain the same even though St. Joe’s Prep in 6A lost to national powerhouse IMG Academy.
The Hawks are still joined at the top of each class by Imhotep Charter (5A), Bishop McDevitt (4A), Belle Vernon (3A), Southern Columbia (2A) and Steelton-Highspire (A).
Here are the initial Trib HSSN rankings in each of the six classifications. Teams are listed with overall record, last week’s ranking and district.
