WPIAL Class 6A/5A football roundup: Moon upsets No. 1 Penn Hills

Josh Bladel scored on a 74-yard run in the fourth quarter as Moon upset Class 5A No. 1 Penn Hills, 14-13, in a Class 5A nonconference football game Friday night.
Braeden Stuart connected with Nick Clemens from 17 yards for Moon’s other score. Bladel finished with 134 rushing yards for Moon (1-3). Amir Key ran for 111 yards and a touchdown for Penn Hills (3-1).
Norwin 30, Plum 23 — Norwin (2-2, 1-0) overcame a 16-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat Plum (2-2, 0-1) in the Big East Conference. Tristyn Tavares threw for 211 yards and two touchdowns — both to Luke Denny in the fourth quarter — for Norwin. Denny caught three passes for 124 yards. Nick Odom ran for 110 yards for Plum while teammate Darian Nelson rushed for two TDs.
Woodland Hills 21, North Hills 20 — Cam Walter threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns — all to Scoop Smith — to lead Woodland Hills (2-2, 1-0) over North Hills (1-3, 0-1) in the Northeast Conference. Smith caught 10 passes for 210 yards. Connor Davis threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a TD for North Hills.
Armstrong 52, Freeport 16 — Colt Sprankle threw for 280 yards and four touchdowns to lead Armstrong (3-1) to a nonconference win. Ian Olsen caught eight passes for 163 yards and a touchdown, Kyan Kline had three receptions for 89 yards and two scores, and Alex Patton ran for 128 yards and a TD. Cyp Selinger returned a kick 91 yards for a score and Drew Ross hit Madden Wisniewski with a 4-yard TD pass for Freeport (2-2).
Canon-McMillan 28, Bethel Park 8 — Zachary Welsh rushed for 240 yards and two touchdowns to lead Class 6A No. 4 Canon-McMillan (3-1) to victory at Class 5A Bethel Park (1-3). Tanner Pfeuffer tossed for 109 yards and Bethel Park’s only touchdown.
Hollidaysburg 33, Butler 13 — Drew Wyland threw for 162 yards and ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns as Hollidaysburg (2-1) beat Butler (2-2) in nonconference play. Jack Steiner added two rushing touchdowns for Hollidaysburg. Braylon Littlejohn threw for one touchdown and ran for another for Butler.
North Allegheny 61, Baldwin 0 — Class 6A No. 1 North Allegheny (4-0) won big at Class 5A Baldwin (1-3).
Pine-Richland 35, Seneca Valley 13 — Ethan Pillar ran for three touchdowns as Class 5A No. 4 Pine-Richland (2-2) defeated Class 6A No. 5 Seneca Valley (0-4).
Shaler 33, Hempfield 17 — Shaler (4-0) scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter to take control of a nonconference win over Hempfield (1-3). Keegan Smetanka was 19 for 27 for 285 yards and three touchdowns, Joey DeSabato caught seven passes for 186 yards and two scores, and Nate Rozzo ran for 105 yards for the Titans. Rogan Katchur ran for 118 yards and a touchdown for the Spartans. Kieran Lippman added a 5-yard touchdown run and Joshua Reilly made a 28-yard field goal for Hempfield.
Upper St. Clair 34, Fox Chapel 0 — Ethan Hellmann threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 3 Upper St. Clair (4-0) to the nonconference win against Fox Chapel (0-4). Julian Dahlem caught 10 passes for 123 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Perry 14, Allderdice 8 — In a City League matchup, Perry (1-3, 1-0) beat Allderdice (0-4, 0-1).
Brashear 52, Carrick 24 — Brashear (1-3) downed Carrick (0-4) in nonconference play.
