WPIAL Class 4A football roundup: No. 4 Central Valley cruises past New Castle

Steven Rutherford threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns and added two rushing TDs to lead No. 4 Central Valley to a 42-14 victory over New Castle (0-5, 0-2) in the Class 4A Parkway Conference on Friday night.

Brandon Singleton ran for 100 yards, and Jance Henry, Mekhi Ahmed, Mason Dixon and Ethan Shearer had touchdowns for the Warriors (4-1, 2-0).

Montour 48, Ambridge 7 — Montour (4-1, 1-1) beat Ambridge (2-3, 1-1) in the Parkway Conference.

Chartiers Valley 26, Blackhawk 14 — Austin Efthimiades rushed for 170 yards and two touchdowns to lead Chartiers Valley (1-4, 1-1) over Blackhawk (0-5, 0-2) in the Parkway Conference.

Connellsville 42, Ringgold 12 — In the Big Seven Conference, Connellsville (3-2, 1-1) downed Ringgold (0-5, 0-1).

Latrobe 37, Laurel Highlands 0 — In the Big Seven Conference, John Wetzel threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead Latrobe (3-2, 1-1) to the win at Laurel Highlands (1-4, 0-2).

McKeesport 35, Trinity 7 — Anthony Boyd ran for 122 yards and two touchdowns as No. 3 McKeesport (4-1, 2-0) defeated Trinity (3-2, 1-1) in a Big Seven Conference matchup. Jonah Williamson threw for 106 yards and ran for Trinity’s only touchdown.

Hampton 32, Armstrong 27 — Hampton (2-3, 2-0) beat No. 5 Armstrong (3-2, 0-1) in the Greater Allegheny Conference.

Moon 26, Mars 23 — Nick Prozzoly scored with 2:59 left in the fourth quarter to lift Class 5A Moon (2-3) to victory over Class 4A Mars (3-2). Moon led 19-0 after the first quarter before Mars scored the next 23 points.
