WPIAL Class A football roundup: Shenango upsets No. 5 Rochester in Big 7

Colton Fedrizzi caught three passes for 61 yards and one touchdown and had an interception and a fumble recovery as Shenango scored an 18-6 upset victory over No. 5 Rochester (3-1, 1-1) in the Class A Big 7 Conference on Friday night.

Sam Myers ran for a score and threw for 117 yards and a touchdown, and Andrew Johnston booted a 41-yard field goal for Shenango (3-2, 1-1).

Dom Guido scored on a 40-yard run for Rochester.

Union 33, Laurel 14 — Braylon Thomas threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 111 yards and a TD to lead Union (4-1, 2-0) to the Big 7 Conference win at Laurel (1-4, 0-1). Mike Gunn added 84 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Union. Luca Santini tossed for 111 yards and a TD for Laurel.

Burgettstown 40, Chartiers-Houston 0 — Burgettstown (2-2, 1-1) downed Chartiers-Houston (0-5, 0-2) in Black Hills Conference play.

Cornell 47, Carlynton 0 — Khylil Johnson scored three touchdowns as No. 3 Cornell (5-0, 2-0) downed Carlynton (1-4, 0-2) in Black Hills Conference play. Christopher Jackson threw for two touchdowns for the Raiders.

Fort Cherry 42, OLSH 0 — In the Black Hills Conference, Shane Cornali returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown as Fort Cherry (5-0, 2-0) went on to shut out OLSH (2-3, 1-1). Matt Sieg threw for two touchdowns and ran for another.

Riverview 46, Frazier 30 – Rocco Cecere threw for 106 yards and three scores, and Carlo Buzzato ran for 245 yards and two touchdowns as Riverview improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Class A Eastern Conference with a victory over visiting Frazier (0-5, 0-2) under the lights at Riverside Park.

Greensburg Central Catholic 60, Springdale 14 – The Centurions improved to 3-2 overall and won their Eastern Conference opener with a victory over visiting Springdale (1-4, 0-2).

Jefferson-Morgan 42, Beth-Center 8 — In the Tri-County South, Jefferson-Morgan (2-3, 1-1) beat Beth-Center (1-4, 1-1).

Carmichaels 27, Mapletown 8 — Will Murray ran for 172 yards and one touchdown as Carmichaels (2-3, 1-1) defeated Mapletown (2-3, 0-2) in Tri-County South play. A.J. Donaldson added two rushing touchdowns.

West Greene 39, Bentworth 6 — West Greene (4-1, 2-0) defeated Bentworth (2-3, 1-1) in Tri-County South play.

South Side 47, Quaker Valley 7 – Ryan Navarra ran for 132 yards and two scores as Class A No. 2 South Side (5-0) won a nonconference game over Class 3A Quaker Valley (0-5). Broady Almashy threw two touchdown passes for South Side. Benjamin McHenry returned a kickoff for a score for the Quakers.
