WPIAL Class 4A football roundup: Jack Fennell scores 6 times in North Catholic victory

Jack Fennell ran for 252 yards and five touchdowns and returned a kickoff 82 yards for another TD to lead North Catholic to a 42-6 Class 4A Greater Allegheny Conference win against Indiana (2-7, 0-6) on Friday night.

The Trojans (5-4, 4-1) clinched a playoff berth with the win. Fennell has more than 1,150 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns for the season.

Laurel Highlands 21, Ringgold 19 – Daryl Tolliver had two long touchdown runs as Laurel Highlands (2-7, 1-4) held off Ringgold (0-9, 0-5) to pick up the Big Seven Conference win.

Thomas Jefferson 61, Connellsville 0 — Brody Evans threw for 154 yards and three touchdowns — all to Sean Sullivan — as No. 5 Thomas Jefferson (8-1, 4-1) clinched a playoff spot by defeating Connellsville (4-5, 1-4) in Big Seven Conference play. Thomas Jefferson led at halftime, 47-0. The loss knocked Connellsville out of playoff contention.

Mars 42, Hampton 15 — Evan Wright rushed for 244 yards and five touchdowns to lead Mars (7-2, 5-0) to the Greater Allegheny Conference win at Hampton (3-6, 3-2).

Aliquippa 53, Chartiers Valley 0 — Top-ranked Aliquippa (8-0, 6-0) blanked Chartiers Valley (2-7, 2-4) in the Parkway Conference.

Montour 45, Blackhawk 13 — In the Parkway Conference, No. 3 Montour (8-1, 5-1) defeated Blackhawk (0-9, 0-6).

New Castle 27, Ambridge 17 — New Castle (1-8, 1-5) snapped a 17-game losing streak and beat Ambridge (2-7, 1-5) in Parkway Conference play.

Albert Gallatin 30, Brownsville 0 — Albert Gallatin (4-4) shut out Brownsville (1-6) in nonconference play.

Kiski Area 39, Fox Chapel 8 — Carson Heinle threw for 173 yards and two touchdowns as Class 4A Kiski Area (4-5) defeated Class 5A Fox Chapel (0-9). The Cavaliers’ Isaiah Gonzalez caught four passes for 109 yards and a touchdown and returned an interception 85 yards for another score while teammate Landon Kucic ran for 116 yards and two TDs.

Linsly (W.Va.) 27, Trinity 3 — Despite Jonah Williamson throwing for 203 yards and running for 115 yards, Trinity (5-4) fell to Linsly (W.Va.) in nonconference play.
