District 1 champions Hannah and Rebecca Kideckel of Lower Moreland won the PIAA Class 2A doubles championship Saturday in Hershey, but they had to go through the WPIAL’s best to get to the top of podium.

In the finals, Kideckel defeated WPIAL third-place finishers Katie Hardy and Brea Kelly of North Catholic, 6-0, 6-0. In the semifinals, they knocked off WPIAL champions Emily and Lindsey Greb of Knoch, the 2021 state champions, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

Hardy and Kelly reached the finals by defeating WPIAL runners-up Sasha Hoffman and Stella Bossert of Greensburg Central Catholic in a three-set battle 7-6, 0-6, 6-2.

Only one other WPIAL player reached the semifinals: Beaver’s Chloe DeSanzo, who finished fourth in the Class 2A singles tournament.
