20 WPIAL soccer teams set to play in PIAA quarterfinals

It was an explosive opening night for WPIAL boys and girls soccer teams Tuesday.
WPIAL boys soccer teams were a combined 9-2 in the first round of the PIAA playoffs, while the District 7 girls were even better, going a combined 11-1 with the lone loss coming in an intra-district battle as Montour eliminated WPIAL champion South Fayette in a Class 3A first-round match.
Here is the rundown of quarterfinal matches on the western side of the PIAA boys and girls soccer brackets.
All matches are set for Saturday.
Boys
Class 4A
Norwin (16-5-1) vs. Abington (21-3) at Chambersburg at 3 p.m.
North Allegheny (17-2-3) vs. Central Bucks South (17-5-2) at Chambersburg at 1 p.m.
Class 3A
South Fayette (14-4-3) vs. Cathedral Prep (16-3-1) at Slippery Rock HS at 1 p.m.
Hampton (18-3-1) vs. Hershey (21-0) at Mansion Park in Altoona at 1 p.m.
Class 2A
Quaker Valley (18-4) vs. Shady Side Academy (16-5-1) at Montour at 2 p.m.
General McLane (15-5-2) vs. Central Columbia (20-2) at Penn West University-Clarion at 2 p.m.
Class A
Bentworth (19-2) vs. Burrell (16-4) at Plum at 2 p.m.
