Peter Kramer scored 31 points to lead Hampton to a 75-63 boys basketball victory over the host team at the North Hills tip-off tournament Saturday night. Alex Nyilas added 21 points for the Talbots (2-0). Zach Pollaro paced North Hills (1-1) with 25 points.

Aquinas Academy 65, Pittsburgh Christian Academy 34 – Jacob Guillen had 26 points to lead tournament host Aquinas Academy (2-0) to a win in the championship game. Jonah Burchill added 13 points and Sam Duer scored 11. Aaron Powers had eight points for Pittsburgh Christian Academy (1-1).

Armstrong 57, Westmont Hilltop 56 – Jack Valasek scored 26 points to lead tournament host Armstrong (1-1) over Westmont Hilltop (0-2) in the consolation game. Noah Brownlee tallied 17 points in the loss.

Avella 73, Frazier 55 – Westley Burchianti hit for 30 points and Bryce Wright scored 23 to lead Frazier (1-1) in the consolation game at the McGuffey tournament. Brock Alekson scored 14 and Dailan McManus added 12 for Frazier (0-2).

Avonworth 70, Winchester Thurston 29 – Avonworth (2-0) raced out to a 21-1 in the first quarter on its way to winning the championship game of the St. Joseph Spartan Classic. Rowan Carmichael (13), Matthew Farrah (12) and Noah Quinn (10) scored in double figures for the Antelopes. Matt Southers netted 11 for Winchester Thurston (1-1).

Baldwin 74, Chartiers Valley 59 – Nate Wesling scored 22 points to lead Baldwin (2-0) at the AHN/Highmark tournament. Max Marzina added 14 and Nate Richards had 13. Jayden Davis led Chartiers Valley (1-1) with 25 points. Rudy Morris had 15.

Beaver 59, Brentwood 22 – Brady Mayo had 18 points and Beaver (2-0) took down tournament host Brentwood (1-1) in the championship game. Ty Butler added 12 points for the Bobcats and Nick Krzeczowski scored 10.

Bethel Park 74, Eden Christian 67 – Bethel Park (1-1) used a 24-8 margin in the third quarter to erase an eight-point halftime deficit en route to winning the consolation game of the Shaler tournament. Nick Brown had 18 points for the Black Hawks. Shawn Davis and Michael Mathias scored 17 each. Luke Gronbeck had a game-high 20 points for Eden Christian (0-2).

Brashear 50, Bishop Canevin 48 – Titus Gillett scored 13 points to hit the 1,000-point mark for his career and Garret White hit for 18 points, including three 3-pointers, as Brashear (2-0) beat Bishop Canevin (1-1) at the Keystone Oaks tournament. Raukeem Hawkins led Bishop Canevin with 11 points.

Burgettstown 61, Propel Montour 35 – Zack Schrockman hit for 31 points to lead Burgettstown (1-0) to a season-opening nonsection win. John Anderson scored 14 for Propel Montour (0-1).

Cheswick Christian 60, Portersville Christian 42 – Joseph Rosio hit seven 3-pointers and scored 27 points and Grant Rochkind added 18 points as Cheswick Christian (1-1) won the consolation game of the Aquinas Academy tournament. Tim Anning scored 15 for Portersville Christian (0-2).

Clairton 64, Ringgold 49 – DaShawn Hines scored 25 points to lead Clairton (1-1) to victory in the MVI Shootout at Charleroi. Daryl Tolliver scored 23 for Ringgold (1-1).

Devon Prep 69, North Catholic 68 – Reese Craft scored 19 points and hit the game-winning shot with 1.5 seconds remaining to lift Devon Prep past tournament host North Catholic (0-1). Max Hurray had 29 points to lead the Trojans and hit five 3-pointers. Nick Larson had 15 points on five 3-pointers and Jude Rottmann scored 14.

Fox Chapel 68, Ambridge 51 – Jefferson Moorefield-Brown had 15 points and five assists as Fox Chapel (1-1) beat Ambridge (0-2) at the Upper St. Clair Tournament. Will Siegel added 13 points and seven rebounds for Fox Chapel. Jared Astorino led Ambridge with 16 points while Adam Fernandez chipped in 15 points.

Franklin Regional 68, Greensburg Central Catholic 51 – Cam Rowell scored 16 points to lead four Panthers in double figures at the Hempfield tournament. Cooper Rankin scored 13, Colin Masten 11 and Fin Hutchison 10 for Franklin Regional (2-0). Anthony Semelka led Greensburg Central Catholic (1-1) with 18.

Greensburg Salem 56, Connellsville 52 – AJ Tarpley scored 17 points and Ryan Burkart added 14 as Greensburg Salem (1-1) won at the Hempfield tournament. Jayden Mickens led Connellsville (0-2) with 17 points. Bruce Giles had 11 and Anthony Piasecki added 10.

Homer Center 61, Apollo-Ridge 46 – Max Voyda scored 22 points to power Homer Center (1-1) in the consolation game at the Leechburg tournament. Karter Schrock scored a game-high 30 for Apollo-Ridge (0-2).

Jefferson-Morgan 46, Waynesburg 39 – Led by 12 points from Jase Bedillion, 11 from Max Ivanusic and 10 from Dayten Marion, Jefferson-Morgan (1-1) won the consolation game at the Fort Cherry tournament. Cole Headlee scored 12 for Waynesburg (0-2).

Kiski Area 69, Deer Lakes 41 – Isaiah Gonzalez scored 19 points and Amaree Gonzalez added 14 points with four 3-pointers, leading Kiski Area past Deer Lakes in the championship game of the Armstrong tip-off tournament. Terry Martin chipped in 11 points for the Cavaliers (2-0). Billy Schaefer scored 14 points and Collin Rodgers added 13 for the Lancers (1-1).

Knoch 65, Freedom 22 – Derek Lang scored 14 points, Teegan Finucan added 12, and 11 other players scored for Knoch (1-0) in a victory over Freedom (0-2) at the South Side tournament.

Latrobe 60, Richland 30 – Ja’Tawn Williams scored 60 points as Latrobe (1-0) opened its season with a nonsection win over Richland (0-1). Max Butler added 14 points and Darius Davis had 11 for the Wildcats.

Laurel 51, Wilmington 25 – Luca Santini scored 16 points to lead Laurel (1-1) past Wilmington (0-2) in the tournament hosted by the Spartans.

Ligonier Valley 52, Purchase Line 50 – Simeon Pope had a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds as Ligonier Valley (1-1) won the consolation game at the United tournament. Jacob Kauffman scored 11 for Purchase Line (0-2).

Mercer 52, Riverside 35 – Dre Mattocks had 16 points and Cole Cunningham scored 14 in a win for Mercer (2-0) at the Laurel tournament. Rob Janis scored 15 for Riverside (1-1).

Neighborhood Academy 62, Beaver County Christian 14 – Courtney Wallace (22 points, 10 rebounds) and John Wilkins (12 points, 15 points) each recorded a double-double for the second straight game to start the season as Neighborhood Academy (2-0) won its tip-off tournament. Syncer Nicholson added 11 points for Neighborhood Academy. Hunter Mozely scored eight for Beaver County Christian (1-1).

Neshannock 76, Shenango 55 – David Kwiat scored 28 points to lead Neshannock (1-1) in the consolation game at the tournament hosted by the Lancers. Jake Rynd added 13 points and Anthony Bonner had 10. Brody McQuiston scored 35 for Shenango (0-2).

OLSH 57, Brownsville 33 – Austin Avsec had 16 points to lead three OLSH players in double figures in a win over tournament host Brownsville (1-1) in the championship game. Jake Johnson scored 15 for the Chargers (2-0) and Vann Kavlas had 14. Harlan Davis led the Falcons with 11 points.

Penn-Trafford 72, Hempfield 70 (2OT) – Tyler Freas scored 22 points, including the go-ahead bucket with 3.5 seconds left, as Penn-Trafford (1-1) defeated Hempfield (1-1) at the tournament hosted by the Spartans. It was the second straight double-overtime game for the Warriors, who lost to Greensburg Central Catholic in the season opener Friday. Carmen Metcalfe added 16 points and Brayden Stone added 11 for Penn-Trafford. Drew Gordon led Hempfield with 20 points. Daniel Husenits had 18 and Aaron Woodley added 11.

Peters Township 69, Altoona 35 – Jack Dunbar scored 19 points and Cam Mills added 17 for Peters Township (1-1) in the AHN/Highmark tournament. Sean Thelk added 11 for Peters. Josh Corso led Altoona with 11 points.

Plum 64, Carrick 58 – Max Grice and Owen Proskin scored 18 points apiece and Darian Nelson added 14 as Plum (1-1) won the consolation game at the Brentwood tournament. Kelenn Ward and Ray Saunders scored 16 points each and Brayden Fisher had 13 for Carrick (0-2).

Quaker Valley 66, Carlynton 37 – Led by 15 points from Zach Washington, 14 from Joe Coyle and 12 from Sam Chapman, Quaker Valley (2-0) defeated Carlynton (1-1) in the championship game of the tournament hosted by the Cougars. Jake Moldovan and Ryan Lewis scored 12 each for Carlynton.

Seneca Valley 84, Perry 41 – Tyler Pepin scored 33 points, including 24 in the first quarter, to lead Seneca Valley (1-1) over Perry (0-2) in the consolation game of the North Hills Tournament. Jayvon Diamond had 26 points and 11 rebounds for Perry.

Serra Catholic 56, Charleroi 49 – Pete Burke had a game-high 21 points for Serra Catholic (1-1) in a win over host Charleroi (0-2) at the MVI Shootout. Jackson Keranko led the Cougars with 19 points.

Seton LaSalle 48, Norwin 45 – Keenu Brooks scored 12 points, Ian March added 10, and Seton LaSalle (2-0) used a 12-0 run in the second quarter to defeat Norwin (1-1) at the tournament hosted by the Knights. Chris McKnight scored 12 for Norwin.

Shaler 53, Highlands 46 – Keegan Smetanka scored 20 points and Brandon London added 12 as Shaler (2-0) won its own tip-off tournament with a win over Highlands. Jordyn Tavarez scored 17 points and Bradyn Foster added 13 for the Golden Rams (1-1).

Sharon 63, Mars 61 (OT) – Austin Campbell and Ryan Ceh scored 13 points each, but Mars (1-1) dropped a tight contest to tournament host Sharon (2-0) in the championship game. Owen Schenker had a game-high 16 points for Sharon.

South Allegheny 59, Belle Vernon 58 – Cam Epps scored 19 points and Drew Cook added 16 as South Allegheny (2-0) won at the MVI Classic. Epps made six 3-pointers and Cook hit four. Zion Moore led Belle Vernon (0-1) with 36 points and Trevor Kovatch added 10.

South Fayette 74, Canon-McMillan 56 – Michael Plasko poured in 37 points to lead South Fayette (2-0) in the championship game of the Canon-McMillan tournament. Gavin Drosz added 16 for the Lions. Eamon O’Donoghue scored 13 and Michael Dietrich added 12 for the Big Macs (1-1).

Thomas Jefferson 51, McKeesport 40 – Noah Prosser had 16 points, Evan Berger scored 15, and Nick Trklja netted 10 for Thomas Jefferson (2-0) in a win at the MVI Classic at Charleroi. EJ Johnson led McKeesport (1-1) with 15 points and Lamont Perkins scored 14.

Trinity 56, Washington 46 – Jacon Dunkle scored 33 points to power Trinity (1-1) in the consolation game at the Canon-McMillan tournament. De’Ondre Daugherty scored 14 for Washington (0-2).

Upper St. Clair 58, Gateway 49 – Brett Meinert scored 17 points, Christian Ito added 13, and Julian Dahlem had 12 as Upper St. Clair (2-0) won at the tournament hosted by the Panthers. Taili Thompson scored 13 for Gateway (1-1).

West Allegheny 56, Fort Cherry 41 – Brandon Bell scored 18 points and Brady Miller added 11 as West Allegheny (2-0) won the championship game of the Fort Cherry tournament. Derek Errett scored 20 for the host Rangers (1-1).

West Shamokin 64, St. Joseph 20 – Bradyn Rodgers scored 16 points and Alex Talmadge added 13 for West Shamokin (1-1) in the consolation game of the St. Joseph tournament. Anthony Zavolta scored eight for the host Spartans (0-2).

Wrestling

Chartiers Houston Invitational – Bentworth had three champions to lead the way. Drake McClure (121 pounds), Vitali Daniels (189) and Chris Vargo (133) each won titles for the Bearcats. Vaughn Spencer (172) and Dominic Ferraro (139) took home titles for Pine-Richland.

Peters Township’s Nicholas McGarrity (107), Butler’s Santino Sloboda (114), South Fayette’s Jonny Baiano (127), Freedom’s Ryan Kredel (145), Plum’s Antonino Walker (160), Central Valley’s Brenan Morgan (215) and Burgettstown’s Joseph Baronick (285) also won titles.

Southwest Kickoff Classic – Four Highlands wrestlers Javeon Chambers (114 pounds), Bryce Black (127), Aiden Burford (145) and Angelo Markey (215) took home titles Saturday at Valley. Black and Markey won by fall. Javeon Chambers took a major decision. Burford had a tight match with McKeesport’s Colton Kotouch that he won 7-5 in overtime.

Charles Perkins (172) and Josue Martinez (139) won for the host Vikings. West Mifflin also had a pair of champions in Cooper Dietz (152) and Caden Willis (160). Lincoln Park’s Dom Brooks won at heavyweight and Penn Hills’ Daemon Phillips took home the 127-pound final.
