Lee defeats Megaludis to win Senior National Freestyle title

It was a battle of Franklin Regional High School graduates Sunday in the finals of the Senior National Men’s Freestyle Championship in Fort Worth, Texas.

Spencer Lee, a 2017 grad, defeated 2011 grad Nico Megaludis, 6-2, in the finals.

Lee had two first-period takedowns and added another takedown in the second period to win the 57 kg weight class.

Lee and Megaludis have qualified for the Olympic Team Trials on April 19 and 20 at Penn State. Lee defeated Megaludis at the 2023 Bill Farrell Men’s Freestyle Championship.

Megaludis finished his high school career 170-1. He was a three-time PIAA Class 3A champion. Megaludis was an NCAA champion and three-time All-American at Penn State.

Lee finished his career 144-1. He too was a three-time PIAA Class 3A champion and a three-time NCAA Division I and five-time NCAA All-American at Iowa.
