Yough’s Terek Crosby scores 2,000th point in playoff loss to Shady Side

Standout senior guard Terek Crosby of Yough scored his 2,000th career point Saturday in a 61-47 loss to Shady Side Academy in a WPIAL Class 3A consolation game at Fox Chapel.
He hit the milestone with a spinning layup in the lane during the second quarter.
He is the 34th player in WPIAL history to achieve the milestone and first in Westmoreland County since Jeannette’s Terrelle Pryor.
“It felt great to do it,” Crosby said. “It means a lot, but I have to stay in the gym and keep working to get better.”
Crosby scored 18 in the loss, but the season is not over for Yough (19-6).
The Cougars drop into the seventh-place game, where they will play Ellwood City (16-9) on Wednesday for a spot in the PIAA playoffs.
Crosby, the second-leading scorer in the WPIAL during the regular season, has 2,015 points.
The Yough school record is 2,285 points by Ben McCauley (2004-08).
Other players from Westmoreland County to score 2,000 are Tom Pipkins of Valley (2,838 from 1990-93), Joshua Tomson of Westmoreland Christian (2,572/2004-08), Vince Graham of Belle Vernon (2,429/1991-95), Eric Roslonski of Southmoreland (2,192/1988-92) and Bill Gales of Laurel Valley (2,099, 1952-56).
A unique thing about Crosby’s milestone: Yough is now one of only five WPIAL schools with two boys’ 2,000-point scorers, joining Chartiers Valley, Shaler, Blackhawk, and Lincoln Park.
