WPIAL softball teams learn sites, times for 1st round PIAA playoff games

WPIAL Class 6A champion Seneca Valley will hit the road and Class 5A champ Armstrong will face a familiar foe when the PIAA softball playoffs begin Monday.
The PIAA announced sites and times Friday afternoon.
Seneca Valley, the only WPIAL team in the 6A field, will open at District 10 champ McDowell at 2 p.m. Monday.
Armstrong will host an opponent from Section 2-5A, Latrobe, at 4 p.m. The River Hawks beat the Wildcats, the fourth-place team out of the WPIAL, twice in the regular season.
WPIAL Class 4A champ Elizabeth Forward will take on Big Spring at Norwin at 1 p.m., Class 3A champ Mohawk will play host to Harbor Creek, undefeated 2A champ Neshannock will host West Shamokin at 4:30 p.m., and Class A champ Chartiers-Houston will meet Berlin Brothersvalley at 3 p.m. at Peterswood Park.
Quarterfinals are set for Thursday. Championship games will be played June 13-14 at Penn State.
