The deck has been shuffled among the top softball teams across the state as we prepare for the PIAA playoffs with a champions-only edition of the Trib HSSN state softball rankings.

Twelve teams came up empty of their district championship hopes and have been bounced from this week’s Top 5.

However, for most of the teams that dropped out, there was a safety net and another chance at diamond gold in the state softball playoffs starting Monday.

Union in Class A was the only top-ranked team from a week ago to drop out of the rankings following its District 7 title game loss. It is replaced at No. 1 by District 6 winner Claysburg-Kimmel.

The top of the other five classifications remained the same with Seneca Valley in 6A, South Western in 5A, Blue Mountain in 4A, Mid Valley in 3A and Neshannock in 2A all winning their respective district championships.
