Amos Glenn

Freeport, jr., RB/DB

Glenn is making the most out of a breakout season for the Freeport football team. The shifty and speedy tailback again was a big factor in the Yellowjackets’ offensive game plan last Friday as he contributed to a 42-0 rout of Burrell. Glenn carried the ball just nine times, but he finished with 88 yards and a touchdown as part of a three-score second quarter that all but put the game on ice by halftime. Glenn had his biggest game of the season in Week 2 as he rushed for 130 yards and a pair of scores on 25 carries in a 44-12 win over Quaker Valley. Glenn hopes to make his mark again Friday as Freeport, 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Allegheny Conference play, hosts a Valley team hoping to break into the win column for the first time this season.

Players to watch

Landon Kucic

Kiski Area, sr., RB/LB

Opposing defenses are not all that excited about trying to slow down the 5-foot-11, 210-pound bruiser. Kucic has been a reliable ball carrier for the Kiski Area offense with 79 carries through five games for 432 yards and seven touchdowns. While he was held out of the end zone in the Cavaliers’ 33-7 loss to Penn-Trafford, Kucic finished with 73 yards on 19 carries. He added 91 yards and a touchdown on 17 attempts against Gateway two weeks ago. Kiski Area visits Franklin Regional on Friday.

Codi Mullen

Knoch, sr., QB/WR/DB

No matter where he is on the field, Mullen can be a difference maker for the Knights (1-4), who hope to snap a two-game losing streak Friday at home against Indiana. Last week, in a tough 42-32 nonconference loss at New Castle, Mullen was in at quarterback, and he produced with his arm and his feet. He threw for 82 yards and a touchdown and carried the ball 30 times for 189 yards and three scores, figuring in on 60 of his team’s 75 plays.

Alex Schultheis

Riverview, sr., TE/DL

The 6-5, 215-pounder is a versatile option in the Raiders’ offense. He has been a reliable blocker and target for quarterback Rio Stotts in the pass game and a run blocker who can carry the ball effectively when his number is called. He tallied a rushing score against Springdale in a 41-0 win last Saturday and also caught six passes for 99 yards in a loss to rival Leechburg in Week 3. Riverview visits Eastern Conference foe Greensburg Central Catholic on Friday.
