Benton Thompson scored the overtime winner to lead Mt. Lebanon to a 3-2 victory over Pine-Richland in nonsection boys soccer Tuesday. Jack O’Brien and Ben Bowen also scored for the Blue Devils (11-7). Jordan Crutchfield and Finn Kichi scored for the Rams (6-10-1).

Beaver 4, Riverside 0 – Ryan Perez had a goal and two assists to lead Beaver (10-7-1, 8-7-1) to a Section 2-2A win over Riverside (3-15, 3-13). Shane Ebbitt had a goal and an assist and Anthony Furda and Zach Orend also scored for the Bobcats, who were eliminated from playoff contention when Hopewell (9-7, 9-7) defeated Keystone Oaks, 3-0, to claim the fourth berth from the section.

Bentworth 2, West Mifflin 0 – Ryan Moessner scored both goals and Billy Moyer and Dillan Colbert dished out assists as Bentworth (15-0) finished the regular season undefeated with a nonsection win over West Mifflin (3-12).

Burrell 1, Freeport 0 – Theo Watson scored a second-half goal, assisted by Parker Pruit, and Ben Doland picked up the shutout in net to lead Burrell (8-9, 8-6) past Freeport (8-8-2, 5-7-2) in Section 1-2A.

Deer Lakes 12, Leechburg 0 – Keegan Landsberg had a goal and two assists as Deer Lakes (15-2-1, 13-1) clinched sole possession of the Section 1-2A title with a win over Leechburg (1-16, 1-13). Waylon Schiller, Jacob Orseno, Peyton Kushon, Collin Rodgers. Artemey Parshyn and Maddox Metzler each had a goal and an assist. Connor Moore, Cuyler Crim, Riley Beacom, Cameron Adams and Maddox MacDowell also scored.

Franklin Regional 5, Allderdice 0 – Danny Christafano and Fabrizzio Costa scored two goals apiece and Jovan Sankoorikal added a goal to lead Franklin Regional (10-3-1) to a nonsection win over Allderdice (10-3-1).

Greensburg Central Catholic 2, Jeannette 1 – Lucca Denis and Grant Brewer scored for Greensburg Central Catholic (6-7-1) in a nonsection win over Jeannette (2-12).

Hampton 8, Knoch 1 – Xavier Ware led Hampton (11-3-3, 7-2-3) with two goals and two assists, Mason Hall added a goal and three assists and Jake Killian had a goal and two assists in a Section 1-3A win over Knoch (7-10, 4-7). Wyatt Bonfili, Mason Hall, Jack Barley and Landen Bieker also scored for the Talbots.

Mars 5, Shaler 0 – Zack Angoff had a hat trick for Mars (12-1-4, 8-1-2) in a Section 1-3A win over Shaler (4-12-1, 3-8-1).

Montour 1, Chartiers Valley 0 – Evan Bonato scored the winning goal, assisted by Andrew Prunier, to lead Montour (9-8, 7-5) past Chartiers Valley (8-8, 7-5) in Section 4-3A.

Moon 13, Blackhawk 0 – Aedan Costa scored a hat trick, Eric Haupt added a pair of goals and Hayden Dunn had a goal and two assists as Moon (17-0, 12-0) cruised to a Section 4-3A win over Blackhawk (0-12-1, 0-10-1). Billy Sprott, Zech Balbach, Krish Lal, Eric Hildenbrand, Jon Mark Balbach, Charlie Weiler and Logan Neff all netted a goal for the Tigers.

Mt. Pleasant 3, Charleroi 2 (OT) – Jarett Garn’s second goal of the game was the overtime winner as Mt. Pleasant (13-5, 12-2) handed Charleroi (14-1, 13-1) its first loss of the season in the Section 4-2A finale. Tyke Snyder also scored for the Vikings. Caleb Amaroso and Otis McIntyre scored for the Cougars.

Penn-Trafford 3, Belle Vernon 0 – Yuriy Bidochko had two goals, JJ Porter also scored and Jose Chaves preserved the shutout as Penn-Trafford (10-5-1, 6-4) beat Belle Vernon (7-9, 3-7) in Section 3-3A. The result eliminated West Mifflin from playoff contention.

Quaker Valley 4, Central Valley 1 – Quaker Valley (14-3-1, 14-1-1) defeated Central Valley (14-4, 12-4) to finish in a tie atop Section 2-2A with Avonworth (14-2-2, 14-1-1). The Antelopes won the tiebreaker.

Riverview 3, Chartiers-Houston 2 (OT) – Chris O’Toole buried the game-winner four minutes into overtime to lift Riverview (10-6) past Chartiers-Houston (1-15) in a nonsection matchup. Carter Loughren and Devin Murphy each tallied a goal for the Raiders.

Seton LaSalle 1, Elizabeth Forward 0 – Gavin McMahon scored to lead Seton LaSalle (12-4, 11-3) past Elizabeth Forward (12-3-1, 11-1-1) in a Section 3-2A win. Keenu Brooks recorded the shutout.

Southmoreland 5, Yough 3 – Ethan Kenney scored twice and the trio of Jack Smith, Liam Smith and Hunter Ryan each added a goal as Southmoreland (10-7, 8-5) defeated Yough (5-11-1, 5-8-1) in Section 4-2A.

Thomas Jefferson 12, McKeesport 0 – Owen Householder and Brayden Miller had hat tricks and Jake Shoemaker added two goals and two assists for Thomas Jefferson (12-1-3, 10-1-3) in a Section 2-3A win over McKeesport (0-18, 0-14). Jacob Surrena, Ayden Hajiyev, Taveon Cameron and Benji Powell also scored and Sam Wessel recorded the shutout.

Trinity 1, South Fayette 0 (OT) – John Garcia scored off a corner kick four minutes into overtime as Trinity (9-5-3, 9-3-2) edged South Fayette (7-10, 7-7) in Section 2-3A. Brady Anderson assisted on the goal and Ryan Torboli kept a clean sheet for the Hillers.

Waynesburg 3, Greensburg Salem 1 – Dylan Pester, Owen Haught and Brendan Cole scored a goal apiece to push Waynesburg (7-7-1, 7-6-1) past Greensburg Salem (3-15, 2-12) in a Section 4-2A win.

West Allegheny 8, Baldwin 2 – Colton Yonker scored two goals and Aaron Bouch and Anthony Mimna had a goal and assist each for West Allegheny (10-6, 9-3) in a Section 4-3A win over Baldwin (3-12-1, 2-9-1). Josh Bohley, Chris Pons, Andrew Mock and Michale Johnson also scored for the Indians.

Girls soccer

Greensburg Central Catholic 1, Apollo-Ridge 0 (forfeit) – Apollo-Ridge did not have enough girls to play the final Section 4-A soccer game of the season, so Greensburg Central Catholic accepted a forfeit win from the Vikings and subsequently clinched a WPIAL playoff spot. GCC (5-7, 5-7) keeps its playoff streak intact at 27 years in a row. Coach Derek Cuthbert said Apollo-Ridge (2-9, 2-9) only had six girls available to play. The Centurions finished in a tie for fourth place with Ellis School (7-9, 5-7) and the teams split their head-to-head series. The WPIAL will announce playoff pairings on Wednesday afternoon.

Oakland Catholic 1, Blackhawk 0 – Maddi Steffey scored the decisive goal and Nica Folino recorded the shutout to lead Oakland Catholic (8-7) to a nonsection win over Blackhawk (5-12).

Peters Township 3, Burrell 0 – Paige Malley led Peters Township (16-0-1) with two goals and Taylor McCullough added a goal in a nonsection win over Burrell (11-5-1). Cailin Martin had two assists and Molly Kubistek and Kaitlyn Strine combined on the shutout.

Quaker Valley 1, Shady Side Academy 1 – Annabel Miko scored for Quaker Valley (13-2-2) in a nonsection draw with Shady Side Academy (6-9-2).

Seton LaSalle 5, South Allegheny 0 – Sydney Morgan had a hat trick and Regan Mazur and Ava Porter combined on the shutout to lead Seton LaSalle (12-2-2, 10-1-1) past South Allegheny (3-15, 1-11) in Section 3-A. Angelina McGrath and Brynlee Robinson also scored.

Field hockey

Penn-Trafford 2, Upper St. Clair 2 (OT) – Brooke Bauer scored twice and Sarah Ley recorded an assist as Penn-Trafford (9-4-2, 6-3-2) tied Upper St. Clair (1-11-2, 1-9-1) in Class 2A.

Girls volleyball

Albert Gallatin 3, Belle Vernon 0 – Leah Myers had 11 kills and five digs, Mikayla Shea followed with five kills and three digs and Mia Myers had seven aces and four kills and dished out 25 assists as Albert Gallatin (8-8, 5-7) beat Belle Vernon (5-11, 3-8) in Section 3-3A.

Beaver 3, Ambridge 0 – Kailyn Connelly had 11 kills, Jaedyn Brown followed with 10 kills, Sophia Sharpless produced 11 digs and Zoe Ringer had 27 assists for Beaver (14-3, 9-0) in a sweep of Ambridge (2-14, 1-8) in Section 4-3A.

Canon-McMillan 3, Upper St. Clair 2 – Natalie Carr had 19 kills and nine digs, Cali Dagen added 13 kills and 19 digs, Sophia Powell had 22 digs and Abby Tucker chipped in with 12 kills and 10 blocks as Canon-McMillan (14-1, 9-0) defeated Upper St. Clair (10-5, 7-2) to clinch sole possession of the Section 1-4A title. Brooke Peters served up 31 assists and pitched in with 13 digs and Carsen Brown had 11 assists for the Big Macs.

Carmichaels 3, West Greene 2 – Bailey Barnyak had 16 kills and 14 digs and Pacey Pratt added six kills and 13 digs to lead Carmichaels (11-6, 9-0) past West Greene (7-5, 6-3) in Section 3-A. Ashton Batis recorded 14 digs and Reese Marzo handed out 27 assists.

Hampton 3, Freeport 0 – Payton Galietti had 15 kills and 24 digs, Marin Katona-Bock added 13 kills and Anabel Fazzini produced 20 digs for Hampton (10-5, 6-3) in a Section 2-3A win over Freeport (10-2, 7-2), ending a streak of 19 consecutive section titles for the Yellowjackets. Lilly Muczinski dished out 36 assists and had 13 digs for the Talbots.

Hempfield 3, Plum 2 – Lauren Howard and Ella Berkebile each had 15 kills, Mia Shipman recorded eight blocks and Preslee Horchak added 40 assists and 25 digs to lead Hempfield (9-5, 7-2) past Plum (7-7, 3-6) in Section 3-4A.

Jefferson-Morgan 3, Mapletown 1 – Alisa Long had nine kills and 14 digs to lead Jefferson-Morgan (8-9, 4-5) to a Section 3-A win over Mapletown (2-11, 1-8). Leighana Gooden had 14 assists and seven digs and Isabelle Bazzoli added eight kills and two blocks for the Rockets. Treslee Weston had 10 kills, Marley Stewart had nine kills and 12 digs and Marley Shiflett had 20 assists for the Maples.

Mars 3, Knoch 0 – Lily Javor and Ella Nicotra each had 10 kills and combined for nine aces while Gabi Weidemann doled out 35 assists as Mars (13-4, 9-0) defeated Knoch (7-8, 3-6) in Section 2-3A. Karlee Buterbaugh had 10 kills and Kenzie Kurtz followed with six kills for the Knights.

Moon 3, West Allegheny 0 – Reese Keslar had nine kills, Elina Antoniades dished out 17 assists and added three kills and three blocks and Maddie Finnegan had seven digs and served three aces for Moon (5-9, 3-8) in a Section 1-3A win over West Allegheny (2-13, 0-11).

New Brighton 3, Northgate 0 – Sundi Fazio had 11 aces, 14 assists and six digs to lead New Brighton (8-7, 6-7) in a Section 1-2A win over Northgate (4-15, 1-12). Karmen Briancesco had nine kills while Chloe Huddy chipped in with six digs for the Lions.

Penn-Trafford 3, Norwin 0 – Penn-Trafford (9-6, 8-1) clinched at least a share of the Section 3-4A title with a victory over Norwin (4-11, 3-6).

South Allegheny 3, South Park 0 – Ally Chizmar had 13 kills and two aces, Alexis Bartrug collected seven kills and five blocks and Regan McBeth added seven kills and two aces to pace South Allegheny (15-4, 11-2) in a Section 2-2A win over South Park (12-5, 12-1).

St. Joseph 3, Riverview 2 – Kate Giannetta had 17 kills and nine aces to lead St. Joseph (14-3, 9-0) past Riverview (3-11, 0-9) in Section 1-A.

Hockey

Canon-McMillan 5, Bishop McCort 2 – Rocco Musto scored a pair of goals to lead Canon-McMillan (2-1) to a Class 2A victory. Grayson Costa, Carson O’Donoghue and Elliot Moser were the other goal scorers for the Big Macs. Connor Hewiit scored for Bishop McCort (1-2).

Carrick 4, Trinity 3 – Ivan Manculich scored his second goal of the game with 21 seconds left in regulation to lift Carrick (2-0) to a Division 2 victory. Chris Tomassi and Shane Birkenfeld each had a goal and an assist for Carrick. Jensen Phillips, Destin Porter and Zach Jiblets scored for Trinity (1-3).

Cathedral Prep 3, Hempfield 2 – Chris Bruschi, Michael Corritore and Nick Hoke each found the back of the net for Cathedral Prep (3-1) in a Class 2A win over Hempfield (1-2). Jonny Holtzman and Nick Crupie scored for the Spartans.

North Catholic 4, Wheeling Park 0 – Beckett Dunn scored twice while Conor Bradrick and Miles Robinson each tacked on a goal for North Catholic (2-1) in a Class A win against Wheeling Park (0-1). Darren Riley stopped 32 shots in the shutout for the Trojans.

Quaker Valley 8, Kiski 0 – Max Modrovich collected two goals and three assists and Matthias Lezama had two goals and two assists to lead Quaker Valley (3-0) past Kiski (0-1) in Class A. Liam Welge added a goal and two assists and Ben McHenry had a goal and an assist.
