Penn-Trafford’s field hockey team has won eight consecutive WPIAL Class 2A titles.

The Warriors, Pine-Richland (Class 3A) and Shady Side Academy (Class A) look to continue their dominance this fall.

Of the three returning champions, Penn-Trafford is in the clearest danger of seeing its streak of consecutive titles end. The Warriors are seeded No. 3 behind No. 1 Peters Township and No. 2 Fox Chapel.

The Class 2A playoffs begin Thursday with the Warriors facing Fox Chapel and Latrobe battling Peters Township.

Pine-Richland has won five consecutive Class 3A titles and six of the last seven. The Rams play host to Norwin at 7 p.m. Thursday and No. 3 North Allegheny travels to No. 2 Mt. Lebanon.

Shady Side Academy has won five of six Class A titles, missing out in 2022. It plays host to Winchester Thurston at 6 p.m. Thursday and No. 3 Oakland Catholic faces Aquinas Academy at 7:30 at Shady Side Academy.

Championship games are set for Nov. 2 at Washington & Jefferson’s Cameron Stadium. Class A is at noon, Class 2A at 2 p.m. and Class 3A at 4 p.m.
