High school roundup for Nov. 4, 2024: Penn-Trafford hockey rallies to stay undefeated

TJ Ferguson scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period to lead Penn-Trafford to a 4-1 victory over Baldwin (0-3-1) in PIHL Class 2A hockey Monday night. Brock Bienemann and Cam Kiste added goals in the final 2:03 for Penn-Trafford (5-0). Baldwin’s Logan Cramer and Penn-Trafford’s Aiden Drotos traded goals in the second period.

Avonworth 10, Hampton 5 – Connor Ralston and Linus Jesionowski each had two goals and two assists and Richard Malsch and Jimmy Shields also scored two goals apiece to lead Avonworth (4-2) to a Class A win. Michael Cummings had two goals and three assists for Hampton (2-4).

Bishop Canevin 6, Central Valley 2 – Jack Lyons had two goals and two assists and Kamil Nurulin added two goals and an assist to lead Bishop Canevin (3-1) to a Division 2 win. Brian Kalanish had a goal and an assist and Jack MIsterka also scored. Logan Sullivan and Isaac Grooms had goals for Central Valley (2-3).

Elizabeth Forward 11, Sewickley Academy 1 – Bobby Boord Jr. had three goals and an assist and Cam Thompson also scored a hat trick to power Elizabeth Forward (5-2) to a Division 2 win. Luke Forbes collected a goal and three assists. Evan Swir scored for Sewickley Academy (0-6).

Knoch 6, Gateway 4 – Mick Ritts and Nick Olshanski each had two goals and two assists and Zack Weiland also scored twice for Knoch (2-1-1) in a Division 2 win. Canyon Hines scored twice and Gavin Grant and CJ Evans added a goal and an assist each for Gateway (0-4-1).

Meadville 6, Westmont Hilltop 2 – Robert Mahoney collected a goal and five assists, Ryan Yunik had two goals and an assist and Dougie Phillis also scored twice for Meadville (2-4) in a Class A win. Graham Shellhaas had a goal and two assists. Ethan Downey and Cullen Carlson scored for Westmont Hilltop (0-5-1).

Montour 9, Kiski 0 – Thomas Barefoot had four goals and two assists, Cole Dallas added two goals and two assists and Aiden Moskovitz dished out five assists to lead Montour (3-2) past Kiski (0-4) in Class A.

Moon 4, Mars 1 – Landon Watson scored twice, Josh Koren added a goal and an assist and Clayton Foster also had a goal for Moon (5-1) in a Class A win. Max Zagorski scored for Mars (5-2).

Mt. Lebanon 5, Thomas Jefferson 2 – Five players scored and Ben Kurta doled out three assists to lead Mt. Lebanon (5-0) to a Class 3A win. Goal scorers were Zach Lynam, Grant Volek, Chayce Stasiowski, Xavier Bias and Aiden Ziolkowski. Liam Mahoney had a goal and an assist and Owen Michael also scored for Thomas Jefferson (3-3).

Neshannock 6, Carrick 5 (SO) – Grant Hennon scored twice, John Monoiodes added a goal and two assists and Brady Liguore and Travis Covelli also scored in a shootout win for Neshannock (3-1) in Division 2. Shane Birkenfeld, Ethan Semenov and Drew Bird each had a goal and an assist for Carrick (3-1).

North Allegheny 3, Bethel Park 0 – Johnnie Castillo scored a first-period goal and Cam Junker made 14 saves to lead North Allegheny (2-2-1) to a shutout of Bethel Park (1-4) in Class 3A. Tommy Vidra and William Kasunich added third-period goals.

Quaker Valley 8, Beaver 0 – Max Modrovich had two goals and two assists, Jace Vasbinder added two goals and an assist and Ian Lorang made 15 saves to lead Quaker Valley (6-0) past Beaver (1-3-1) in Class A.

Wheeling Park 8, Richland 3 – Kaden Schnarr had a goal and four assists and Luke Simonetti scored twice to lead Wheeling Park (3-1-1) in Class A. Brody Groome and Kaden Lyons each had a goal and two assists. Paddy Griffin, Wesley Dunlap and Brayden Bracken scored for Richland (0-6).
