North Allegheny girls water polo caps season at state play-in tournament

The North Allegheny girls water polo team wrapped up its season Nov. 2 at the state play-in tournament at North Penn High School.

North Allegheny, which was seeded fifth, defeated No. 4 Exeter, 9-5, but then lost to No. 1 Springfield, 10-3. The Tigers finished the season with a 10-12 record.

Against Exeter, Bella Spino had eight goals, surpassing 100 for her career. Mikaela Dassanaike also scored. Ava Sharar had four assists. Lily Tang made six steals. Goalie Katherine Vales made three saves.

Against Springfield, Tang had all three goals for the Tigers. Vales made four saves.

The North Allegheny boys team had already locked up the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference and qualified for states. They were to compete in the state championships Nov. 7 at Upper Dublin.
