High school roundup for Nov. 14, 2024: Latrobe hands 1st loss to Penn-Trafford

Joey Crimboli scored a pair of goals to lead Latrobe to a 3-1 victory in PIHL Class 2A hockey Thursday night, handing Penn-Trafford its first loss of the season. Dylan Morris added a goal and an assist for Latrobe (4-2). Roman Catello scored for Penn-Trafford (6-1).

Carrick 3, Ringgold 2 – Kian Conroy scored the winning goal in the third period to lead Carrick (4-2-1) to a Division 2 win. Ethan Semenov had a goal and an assist, Drew Bird also scored and Chris Tomassi and Ivan Manculich each had two assists. Benito Pesi and Landon Vacarro scored for Ringgold (4-2).

Cathedral Prep 4, Baldwin 1 – Matthius Sprickman scored twice and Rylan Sorge and Tucker Kinnear each had a goal and an assist for Cathedral Prep (6-1) in a Class 2A win. Tim Bush scored for Baldwin (1-4-1).

Central Catholic 4, Pine-Richland 2 – Santino Strobel, Cain Phillip, Chris Sargo and Ray Trovato scored to lead Central Catholic (4-2-2) to a Class 3A win. AJ Verszyla and Adam Proctor scored and Carson Verszyla had two assists for Pine-Richland (2-5). Goalies Ben Balla of Central Catholic and Brett Sudlac of Pine-Richland each made 38 saves.

Chartiers Valley 7, McDowell 0 – Noah Callendar had two goals and an assist and Matt Colberg made 13 saves to lead Chartiers Valley (7-0) to a Class A shutout win over McDowell (3-5). Ryan Kumpf and Tyler Held each had a goal and an assist.

Greensburg Salem 8, Beaver 6 – Jake Fink racked up four goals and three assists to power Greensburg Salem to a Class A victory. Nathan Ross had two goals and Luke Dieter and Ace Klingensmith also scored for Greensburg Salem (2-4). Zack Masters, Sammy Mecchia and Trevor Schmidt each scored twice for Beaver (1-5-1).

Indiana 6, Butler 2 – Matt Stone scored twice and Joe Mains and Jackson Albert each had a goal and an assist to lead Indiana (5-2) to a Class A win. Mason Heichel and Aden Devore scored for Butler (2-5-1).

Mars 8, Hampton 3 – Xavier Bossolo had a hat trick and Ben Bowser added a goal and three assists to lead Mars (6-2) to a Class A win. Jack Weaver, Gavin Stevenson, Max Zagorski and Jack Tirch each had a goal and an assist for Mars. Preston Cochran had a goal and an assist for Hampton (3-5).

Moon 5, Freeport 0 – LJ DeFilippo scored twice and Carson Relyea made 28 saves as Moon (7-1) blanked Freeport (1-6) in Class A. Clayton Foster had a goal and two assists, Landon Watson and Jordan Rieke also scored and Josh Koren doled out two assists for Moon.

Mt. Lebanon 3, Bethel Park 1 – Xavier Bias had a goal and an assist and Griffin Krupp and Ben Kurta also scored for Mt. Lebanon (7-0) in a Class 3A win. Liam Shinn added two assists. Luke Fauth scored for Bethel Park (1-6).

Quaker Valley 6, Wheeling Central Catholic 2 – Matthias Lezama scored twice and Ben McHenry and Jacob Keisel each added a goal and an assist to power Quaker Valley (8-0) to a Class A victory. Bode Burge and Aden Cooey scored for Wheeling Central Catholic (4-3).

Shaler 7, Blackhawk 0 – Darius Malecki collected three goals and two assists, Brendan Fitzgerald scored twice and Jackson Fox made 15 saves to lead Shaler (7-1) to a Class A shutout of Blackhawk (4-2). Blake Whiteman had a goal and two assists and Jacob Skerlong dished out three assists.
