High school roundup for Dec. 1, 2024: Courtney Wallace leads Neighborhood Academy past Bishop Canevin

Courtney Wallace had 15 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and seven steals to guide Neighborhood Academy to a 62-31 victory over Bishop Canevin (0-1) at the Geneva College/Lincoln Park boys basketball tournament Sunday. Kedron Gilmore and Syncer Nicholson each had 14 points in the win.

York Suburban 76, McKeesport 59 — Lamont Perkins had 22 points for McKeesport (0-2), but the Tigers fell to York Suburban at the Play 4 Mae tournament at Woodland Hills.

Girls basketball

Altoona 57, North Allegheny 41 — Vange Balouris and Rosalia Varlotta each had 17 points for North Allegheny (1-1) in a loss to Altoona at the Tigers’ host tournament.

Belle Vernon 64, Westinghouse 8 — Aubrey Brown and Saylor Lee each scored 12 points as Belle Vernon (1-1) defeated Westinghouse (1-1) at the Play 4 Mae tournament at Woodland Hills.

Blackhawk 71, Latrobe 57 — Aubree Hupp scored 30 points to lead Blackhawk (1-1) to a victory at the North Allegheny tournament. Andrea Kinger and Mia Sheesley each had 14 points in the win. Carley Berk and Maggie Maiers each scored 19 points for Latrobe (1-1).

Burrell 57, Steel Valley 9 — Burrell (2-0) had four players in double figures in a victory over Steel Valley (0-2) at the Play 4 Mae tournament at Woodland Hills. McKenna Miller had 13 points, Jules Fisher had 12, and Casey Brancato and Mikayla Coury each scored 10 for the Bucs.

Mt. Lebanon 52, North Catholic 46 — At the North Allegheny tournament, Peyton Collins had 18 points and four 3-pointers to help Mt. Lebanon (2-0) top North Catholic (0-2). Brady Wehner led the Trojanettes with 17 points.

Penn-Trafford 57, Allderdice 47 — Laurel Marton had 17 points and Torrie DeStefano added 11 as Penn-Trafford (2-0) beat Allderdice (0-2) in the Play 4 Mae tournament at Woodland Hills. The Warriors led 42-12 at halftime and the mercy rule was enacted in the second half. Bailey White had 24 points for the Dragons.

Shady Side Academy 61, Berlin Brothersvalley 51 — Karis Thomas had 26 points and surpassed 1,000 for her career as Shady Side Academy (2-0) won at the Play 4 Mae tournament at Woodland Hills. Cassie Sauer and Leah Buford each had 10 points in the win.

South Fayette 58, Greensburg Central Catholic 29 — Juliette Leroux’s 21 points helped lead three-time defending WPIAL champion South Fayette (2-0) past Greensburg Central Catholic (1-1) at the North Allegheny tournament. Erica Gribble had 19 points for the Centurions.
