Sewickley Academy girls off to 1-2 start in section play

Sewickley Academy’s Emma Eannarino and Grace Jardini would not be denied a victory in the closing seconds of their section opener.
The Panthers nudged by Eden Christian Academy, 32-30, at home Dec. 12 to start out 1-0 in Section 1-A.
After Eden Christian tied it at 30-all on a three-point play with 21.4 seconds left in game, Eannarino, a sophomore guard, came downcourt and went right to rim to score on a layup with 10.6 remaining.
Jardini, a sophomore forward, then ended the contest with a steal off her team’s defensive pressure.
Eannarino finished with a game-high 20 points for the Panthers who improved to 2-2 overall.
Hannah Wallace scored 16 for Eden Christian.
Sewickley closed out the month of December with a nonsection defeat against Riverview and section losses to Aquinas Academy and Union.
The Panthers fell to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in section play.
