Aliquippa will host a charity basketball event Saturday featuring high school players from around Western Pennsylvania.

The CJ2K vs. World “Bigger than Basketball” Charity Classic includes a girls game at 3 p.m. and a boys game at 4:30 p.m. The rosters contain both high school seniors and underclassmen.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.

Proceeds benefit UPMC Children’s Hospital, said event organizer Scott Alaksin, a founder of the CJ2K League.

The boys game includes a foursome of 2,000-point scorers in Neighborhood Academy’s Courtney Wallace, Belle Vernon’s Zion Moore, Avonworth’s Rowan Carmichael and Chartiers Valley’s Jayden Davis. Clairton senior Iyanna Wade — who topped 3,000 points in her career — will compete in the girls game.

To adhere to PIAA rules, players are identified by their hometown rather than their high school. Also, the event is not billed as a high school all-star game. Those steps let underclassmen take part without jeopardizing their eligibility.
