For the fourth time in school history, the Brashear Bulls claim back to back title with a 21-6 victory over the Allderdice Dragons in the Pittsburgh City League championship game at Cupples Stadium. Quarterback Therran Coleman threw 3 touchdown passes, two to Devaughn McNary in the second quarter that pushed the Bulls to a 14-0 halftime advantage.

The Bulls also did the job defensively, forcing 6 Allderdice turnovers. Brashear defeated Allderdice 42-14 in last year’s title game. The win gives Brashear their 11th City League title and a berth in the PiAA playoffs in two weeks.

Allderdice held the Brashear rushing attack down to just 62 yards in the game. The Bulls got 2 huge plays from Coleman in the second quarter, going to McNary for a 32 yard score and followed with a 29 yard pass play with 60 seconds left in the half.

Allderdice got on the board in the third on a 5 play drive as Dujuan Duggar hit Ramon Creighton for a 47 yard touchdown, cutting the Brashear lead to 14-6. But Brashear answered the score with an 11 play drive with Coleman tossing his third td of the day, this one to Richard Stone from 7 yards as the Bulls led 21-6 after three.

The Dragons turned the ball over two more times in the second half, that along with 13 penalties for 80 yards, prevented Allderdice from winning their first City League title since 1967. This despite the Dragons playing for the gold for the fourth time in five years.

McNary was 6 of 17 on the day for 107 yards with an interception. The Bulls had 169 total yards and had 14 penalties for 120 yards. Brashear is now 7-3 on the year.

For Allderdice, who finishes at 5-5, Duggar was just 9 for 35 with 4 interceptions for 140 yards.
