#1 Sto-Rox 34, Neshannock 31
In a rematch of, arguably, 2012’s best game, Sto-Rox (3-0) and Neshannock (2-1) played another thriller for the ages. There were, however, two major differences this time around: the game was on a Thursday night and Sto-Rox came up with a much-needed defensive stand late in the game. Down 34-31 with under 10 seconds to play, the Lancers’ Giani Olivia would take a pitch from the 2 yard line. Sto-Rox’s defense would hold though, stopping Olivia on 4th and goal with 4 seconds left, giving Sto-Rox a gigantic win in Class A’s Big Seven Conference. Last season, Neshannock scored a late touchdown, rallying from down 21 points at halftime and stunning Sto-Rox 35-34.

#2 Seneca Valley 20, North Allegheny 6
North Allegheny (2-1) had won 12-straight games against Seneca Valey (3-0) and 32-straight games against WPIAL opponents. But the Raiders were determined to end both of those streaks on Friday night. After a terrific defensive performance, Quarterback TJ Holl would haul in a late 4th quarter, 11-yard touchdown pass from Brad Hensler on a trick play, giving Seneca Valley a 20-0 lead and clinching their first win over the Tigers since 2002. Last season, in two wins over Seneca Valley, North Allegheny outscored the Raiders 92-20.

The North Allegheny Sports Networks Randy Gore and Rick Meister with the call.
#3 Fort Cherry 49, Monessen 33
Many were wondering if Fort Cherry (3-0) were for real and viewed their meeting with a tough Monessen (2-1) team as their first big test. Well, the Rangers passed with flying colors, using streaky scoring to knock off the Greyhounds. With 9:45 left in the game and up by 10 points, Alex Babirad would haul in a 56-yard pass from Matt Heslin, giving Fort Cherry a commanding 42-25 lead, which they would never relinquish. The Rangers have been terrific offensively, scoring at least 46 points in all three wins this season.

WJPA-FM 95.3's Mark Uriah and Bill Dukett with the call.
#4 Beth-Center 28, Carmichaels 22
In a Tri-County South battle, Beth-Center (3-0) outlasted Carmichaels (2-1) by risking their lead and great field position late in the game. On a 4th and 1 around midfield, Anthony Welsh would take a handoff 53 yards for a touchdown, giving the Bulldogs a commanding 28-14 lead with 6:00 left. Carmichaels would score again, but the deficit was too much to overcome for the Might Mikes, who will now hit an extremely manageable section of their schedule, with games against Vincentian, Mapletown and Geibel up next.

The Greene County Sports Network’s Jason Tennant and Aaron Thompson with the call.
#5 Shady Side Academy 10, Valley 8
In a rough, tough, defensive battle, it’s no surprise that a defensive play was the highlight of the game. After Valley (2-1) blocked a punt with under a minute to play, Shady Side Academy’s (3-0) Don Szlachetka would intercept a tipped Ty Matthews pass with under 20 seconds left in the game to ice the win, 10-8. It was the third interception of the game for the Shady Side defense, which has allowed only 8 points through their first 3 games.
