The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers (3-7 in section play) hosted the Avella Eagles (2-8) in a late season section matchup on a cool Tuesday night in October. The Bucs came out with a solid 3-0 victory to add another win to their section resume.

The first game stayed close the entire time with each team trading barbs back and forth for a quite a while. At one point in the game, both teams were tied 11-11. This proved to be an important part in this game and each one after. All 3 games saw this 11-11 similarity and that was the point where the Bucs took over. Sophomore right side hitter and co-captain Kylee Levers led the way with a team high 6 kills in game one. She also added an ace in service to catapult the Bucs to an early 1-0 lead.

Game 2 brought on more of the same that game 1 had given us. A close back and forth set had eventually gone the way of the Bucs. The one glaring difference in this set was that Levers was held without a single kill on the way to taking this game 25 to 22. The Bucs were picked up by stellar play by junior outside hitter and other co-captain Lexi Tatano. Tatano, along with junior Sabrina Stankus and senior Shylynn Hamilton all clocked 2 kills each to lead Chartiers-Houston. For Avella, they were powered in this game by the strong serve of senior Aleesha Thomas. Thomas gave the Buccaneers all that they could handle powering 3 service aces in the game. Thomas was contributed 3 kills in the game.

Game 3 put the Avella Eagles up against the wall needing a set victory to keep the match alive. A tightly played game came all the way to the wire with an exciting finish. Chartiers-Houston was up 21-17 needing just 4 more points to secure the win. Avella had then rattled up 5 straight points to take the lead in game 3 at 22-21. The Eagles had then taken the game to game point at 24-22. This is when the Bucs roared back with 4 straight points of their own to secure the game and earn the match victory. A highlight of game 3 was an absolutely spectacular volley between the two teams at 24-22 Avella. Neither team would let up during this volley providing the crowd decked out in pink attire at Chartiers-Houston High School with brilliant volleyball.

Kylee Levers had a match high 13 kills for the night. After the match both assistant coach Amanda Myers "Kylee is a great athlete. She actually teaches me some things during practice." Co-captain Lexi Tatano spoke highly of Levers as well, "Me and Kylee are co-captains. I like to be loud. Kylee is more of a quiet leader."

The Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers move to 4-7 in section play and stay home to face Bentworth on Thursday. Avella slides to 2-9. They go home to take on Beth Center Thursday.
