Terrell Pryor Selected by Oakland in NFL Supplemental Draft

One of the most celebrated athletes in WPIAL history has a new home. Terrell Pryor, the former Jeannette Jayhawk and Ohio State Buckeye is now Oakland Raiders property after the he was selected in the third round of Monday's NFL Supplemental Draft.

The 6-5, 232-pound quarterback indicated on Saturday at his pro day at Hempfield High School that he wanted to stay at his signal calling position, but he would play any position he was asked once he turned pro.

Pryor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said he's optimistic a deal will get done Monday night and that Pryor will be on a plane to Oakland this afternoon.

Pryor said he will not appeal the five-game suspension imposed by the NFL. Pryor would have faced a five-game suspension had he stayed for his senior year at Ohio State.
Pryor and other Ohio State players broke NCAA rules when they traded Buckeyes memorabilia for cash and discounted tattoos.

Many people called Pryor one of the greatest players in WPIAL history.

Pryor led his Jeannette Jayhawks team to the 2007 WPIAL Class AA title and has the Jayhawks in the PIAA final for the second year in a row. He became the first player in WPIAL history to go over 4,000 yards passing and 4,000 rushing. He went over 4,000 passing in the state quarterfinals his senior year and 4,000 rushing a week later.

In his senior season, Pryor rushed for 1,690 yards on 131 attempts, a gaudy 12.9 average. He completed 84 of 126 passes (67 percent) for 1,806 yards and 22 touchdowns. He also has scored 31 touchdowns.

Regarded as the nation's top quarterback recruit coming out of high school in 2008, Pryor led Ohio State to an 8-1 record as a starter and was the Big Ten Conference's freshman of the year. He took the Buckeyes to the Big Ten title the following season and a victory in the Rose Bowl. He was named the game's MVP after Ohio State beat Oregon 26-17.

Pryor had his best season statistically last year as a junior, throwing for 2,772 yards and 27 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He also ran for 754 yards and four scores while helping the Buckeyes win the Sugar Bowl.

By making Pryor the only player selected in this year’s Supplemental Draft, the Oakland Raiders forfeit their third round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.
