Saturday was one of the lightest days at the district high school football restaurant with only four WPIAL main courses to choose from with a pair of Pittsburgh City League non-conference sides. However that didn’t stop these players from feasting with top performances that would satisfy anybody’s big game appetite.

John Dugas – Burgettstown

After losing eight consecutive games last season, Burgettstown loves this Saturday afternoon sun light football as they improved to a perfect 3-0 thanks to another solid game by running back John Dugas. Dugas rushed for 105 yards and scored the games first touchdown on a 35 yard scamper and the Blue Devils never looked back in cruising to a 26-6 victory over the South Allegheny Gladiators in a Class AA Century Conference opener.
Eric Blinn – Western Beaver

Western Beaver quarterback Eric Blinn may not have had his best game, but he made the big plays when he needed to in guiding his team to a thrilling two point victory. Blinn was 11 of 19 passingfor 114 yards and two touchdowns run, including the game tying 5-yard run in overtime, then he tacked on the game winning two-point conversion lifting the Golden Beavers to a 38-36 overtime win over the Cornell Raiders in a Class A Big 7 Conference opener.
Joe Seaburn – Shenango

Shenango is used to playing on the final day of the week since they play their home games under the lights on Saturday nights. However they got a taste of the sun in their road game at Hookstown in a Class A Big 7 Conference opener…and they liked it. Joe Seaburn caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Ty Greer to open the scoring, then later scored on a 39-yard run to cap the scoring for the Wildcats in a 29-21 victory over the host South Side Beaver Rams.
Joe Killian – Springdale

Springdale had to wait until the final game of the weekend on Saturday night to try and wash away the bad taste in their mouth left over from a Week Two loss to Avonworth. While the defense shined in pitching a shutout, Joe Killian led the offense with 132 yards on the ground and he scored what turned out to be the game winning touchdown in the opening quarter of the Dynamos 23-0 whitewash of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Chargers in a Class A Eastern Conference tilt.
Jaquan Green – Langley

With only four WPIAL games, we turn to the Pittsburgh City League for our fifth star…plus its a chance to throw the old alma-mater one final bone. Langley quarterback Jaquan Green was 17 of 25 passing for 284 yards and SEVEN touchdown tosses, with eight of those completions, 124 of those yards and four of those scoring passes going to Marc Wilson in the Mustangs 45-15 rout of the District 6 Homer-Center Wildcats.
