MSA Sports Friday Night HighLights – Week Four

The final Friday night of September brought some big performances through the air and on the ground as the 2010 season inches toward the half way point. It's time to hit the stride, not only for teams but players as well. So here are the players who who hitting on all points Friday night throughout the WPIAL.

Alex Papson – North Allegheny

Alex Papson of North Allegheny is becoming a regular on the HighLights…and rushing for 200 plus yards every Friday night will earn you the steady spotlight. Papson gained 275 yards on a busy 29 carries, two of which ended up in the end zone to lead the unbeaten Tigers to a 21-10 victory over the previously unbeaten Erie McDowell Trojans.

Damion Jones-Moore – Pittsburgh Central Catholic

They say revenge is a powerful motivator. Well stay undefeated and on top of the rankings is pretty powerful too. Damion Jones-Moore rished for 239 yards and scored three touchdowns, including runs of 34 and 65 yards to lead Pittsburgh Central Catholic to a 24-7 win over Woodland Hills as the Vikings avenged a Quarterfinals playoff loss to the Wolverines in last years playoffs.

Tim Petro – Norwin

After falling behind Hempfield on the road early in a Foothills Conference fray, Norwin jumped on the arm of Tim Petro, who led the way through the air to a victory. Petro was 12 of 21 passing for 302 yards with four touchdown passes and two scoring runs as he outgunned the Spartans Dante Nania in leading the Knights to a wild 40-35 victory.

Julian Durden – Montour

Could there be a new top-ranked team in Class AAA this week. There are only three undefeated teams remaining in Triple A after four weeks and one of them is Montour, who got a huge game on the ground from Julian Durden Friday night, who rushed for 264 yards and scored four touchdowns in the Spartans 42-14 rout of the Canon-McMillan Big Macs.

Dane Brown – Franklin Regional

Two of the top teams in Class AAA's Keystone Conference squared off in Murrysville, leaving Franklin Regional fans wondering, "What MORE could Brown do for us?" Dane Brown rushed for 212 yards on 30 carries and scored on a pair of touchdown runs as the Panthers declawed the visiting Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers 27-20.
