Picture Perfect. That was the backdrop weather wise for the two Class AA and two Class A WPIAL football games played on Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Picture Perfect could also be used to describe these performances as we say so long to the first half of the 2010 high school football season.

Jared Brevard – Shady Side Academy

Youth was served on homecoming afternoon at Shady Side Academy as the host team was able to snap a three game losing streak. SSA freshman running back Jared Brevard carried only five times, but rushed for 76 yards with two of those carries ending up in the end zone, plus he had an interception on defense as the Indians cruised to a 56-0 Double A Allegheny Conference rout of the West Shamokin Wolves.

Christian Herstine – Beaver

Beaver quarterback Christian Herstine completed half of his pass attempts, but half of those went for touchdowns in front of a Saturday night homecoming crowd. Herstine was 4 of 8 passing with touchdown tosses of 15 and 7 yards as the Bobcats remained perfect at 5-0 with a 42-0 Class AA non-conference win over the Brownsville Falcons.

Jasson Adamson – Rochester

Rochester senior quarterback Jasson Adamson did it all in a Class A Big Seven Conference road win. Adamson set up a 22 point outburst late in the second quarter with a 65-yard kickoff return followed by a scoring pass and a touchdown run. Then Adamson capped the burst by hitting Kaylan Kenny on a 55-yard fly pattern on the final play of the first half turning a 13-7 lead into a 35-7 rout at the half. Adamson ended up with 154 yards passing on just 4 of 7 passing in the Rams 42-7 triumph over the Shenango Wildcats.

Josh Guiser – Frazier

In a Class A Tri-County South battle of surprise teams, Frazier picked up a big win to improve their overall record to 3-1 for the first time in eleven years. Josh Guiser led the way with 118 yards on the ground and a game-winning two-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, plus he earlier threw a 30-yard tying touchdown pass as the Commodores edged the Geibel Gators 20-14.
