PIAA Boys Basketball Class AAAA Recaps for Wednesday, March 16th

WPIAL champion Gateway had there season come to an end on Wednesday night at North Allegheny High School as Mount Lebanon defeated the Gators 59-33.

Mount Lebanon started out strong jumping out to a 22-14 halftime lead. They limited Gateway's Devon Cotrell to just 2 points in the half. Gateway would cut the lead to 2 points early in the 3rd but a couple of three pointers pushed the lead to ten points after 3 quarters.

With 4:11 left Gateway's Barnett Harris went up to try and follow a shot but looked like he had his legs taken out from him while he was in the air. He tried to grab the rim but could not hang on and fell very hard to the floor and hit the back of his head and landed on his back. He laid there almost motionless while the trainers came out to check on him. Coach Adams says he was responsive but did not see him moving his arms and legs at the time. The medical crew took every precaution has the stretcher came out to attend to him. They hope to have an update on his status on Thursday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Barnett Harris, his family, and everyone involved with the Gateway program.

Mount Lebanon was up 40-28 at the time and pulled away from there. Evan Eaton led Mount Lebanon with 17 points followed by Paul Lang with 16, and Tyler Roth with 12. Gateway was led by Dennis Boyce with 15. Mount Lebanon will now take on Butler Saturday. That game will be able to heard right here on the MSA Sports Network.

Butler continued there run through the state playoffs knocking off city league champion Allderdice 62-48. Butler jumped out to an early 16-9 lead but Allderdice tied it at 21 at the half.

Butler would score the first 7 of the 3rd quarter and would pull away in the 4th. Allderdice ran into foul trouble and Butler capitalized sinking 27-37 free throws. Nate Snodgrass was a perfect 12-12 from the line.

Allderdice had no answer for Bobby Swartwout who led Butler with 19. Cody Herald added 15 with three 3 pointers for Butler. For Allderdice Justin Dobbs only had 8 points and struggled all night. Ben Mickens led the Dragons with 13.
