They saved the best for last. Upper St. Clair denied Canon-McMillan a repeat of the Penguins Cup Class AAA crown with a thrilling overtime victory to close out the very first high school hockey championships at the new CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh on Sunday night. In the two other games, Mars wasn't the top-seed when the high school hockey playoffs began two weeks ago, but there was no question as to who was number one in Class A. The Fighting Planets finished off their third straight Penguins Cup Championship run with a 5-0 shutout of Hampton. While Mars is used to that golden feeling, it's been a while for Bishop Canevin. The Crusaders beat top-seed Peters Township to win its first Penguins Cup title in 18 years.
