Westmoreland high school roundup: No. 2 Jeannette cruises past Bishop Canevin

Robert Kennedy ran for 142 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 2 Jeannette to a convincing 51-7 victory over Bishop Canevin (2-3, 2-2) in the WPIAL Class A Eastern Conference on Friday night.

Jeannette (6-0, 4-0), which led 44-0 at halftime, outgained Bishop Canevin, 430 yards to 97.

Bethel Park 55, Hempfield 21 — Tanner Volpatti rushed for 238 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 5 Bethel Park (4-1, 3-0) to the Southeastern Conference win at Hempfield (1-5, 0-4).Joe Doleno added 110 rushing yards and three touchdowns for Bethel Park, which gained 512 total yards.

Justin Sliwoski threw for 147 yards and a touchdown to pace Hempfield.

Franklin Regional 33, Connellsville 0 — Stephen Johns ran for two first-half touchdowns as Franklin Regional (4-1, 4-1) blanked Connellsville (1-5, 0-5) in the Big East 9 Conference.

Franklin Regional's Adam Rudzinski threw for one touchdown and ran for another.

Belle Vernon 35, Laurel Highlands 7 — Jared Hartman threw for two touchdowns and ran for another as No. 3 Belle Vernon (5-0, 5-0) downed Laurel Highlands (2-4, 0-4) in the Big 9 Conference.

Conner Basinger threw for 154 yards and an 86-yard pass to Jacob Dukman for Laurel Highlands' only score.

Elizabeth Forward 50, Mt. Pleasant 7 — In the Class 3A Interstate Conference, Zachary Benedek threw for 140 yards and three touchdowns as Elizabeth Forward (4-1, 4-0) won big over Mt. Pleasant (2-4, 1-3).

Brian Malloy and Gavin Martik each scored two touchdowns. Michael Govern scored on a 60-yard run for Mt. Pleasant.

McGuffey 33, Yough 0 — Christian Clutter rushed for 118 yards and a 55-yard touchdown and caught a 27-yard scoring pass from Marshall Whipkey to lead McGuffey (4-2, 3-1) to the Interstate Conference shutout against Yough (1-5, 1-2).

Dustin Shoaf ran for 114 yards for Yough, giving him 999 rushing yards for the season.

California 53, Monessen 0 — Jelani Stafford ran for 226 yards and two touchdowns as No. 4 California (6-0, 4-0) rolled past Monessen (1-5, 1-3) in the Tri-County South.

Derry 42, Frazier 0 — Ryan Polinsky threw for 123 yards and a touchdown to lead Class 3A Derry (5-1) to the shutout against Class 2A Frazier (0-6).

Onreey Stewart rushed for 92 yards and a touchdown while Colton Nemcheck ran for 58 yards and a 42-yard score and caught four passes for 91 yards.

Ligonier Valley 42, West Shamokin 0 — Jackson Daugherty ran for 167 yards and three touchdowns and caught two passes for 109 yards and two scores as Ligonier Valley (6-0, 6-0) shut out West Shamokin (3-3, 3-3) in Heritage Conference play.

John Caldwell added 172 passing yards and two touchdowns while teammate Aaron Tutino caught seven passes for 133 yards and a TD.
