Westmoreland roundup: Mt. Pleasant rolls past Yough in Interstate Conference

Michael Govern ran for 164 yards and three touchdown to lead Mt. Pleasant to a 45-7 win over Yough (1-7, 1-4) in the WPIAL Class 3A Interstate Conference on Friday night.

Lucas Pieszak added 136 passing yards and two touchdowns for Mt. Pleasant (3-5, 2-4). Dustin Shoaf rushed for 126 yards for Yough.

Elizabeth Forward 47, Southmoreland 3 — Garrett Stanley ran for two touchdowns and returned an interception 37 yards for another score to lead No. 5 Elizabeth Forward (6-1, 6-0) to the Class 3A Interstate Conference victory at Southmoreland (0-7, 0-5).

West Greene 48, Monessen 16West Greene (6-2, 4-2) qualified for the playoffs for the first time since 1993 after a win over Monessen (2-6, 1-4).

Derry 35, Ellwood City 7Derry improved to 7-1 overall with a nonconference victory.

Norwin 7, Butler 6 — Jack Salopek threw for 155 yards and a fourth-quarter touchdown to Dylan Kantz as Norwin (4-4) edged Butler (2-5) in nonconference play. Luke Michalek scored on a 1-yard run for Butler later in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Tornadoes' try for two points failed.

Ligonier Valley 49, Blairsville 14 — Jackson Daugherty caught three passes for 120 yards and an 89-yard touchdown from John Caldwell and ran 38 yards for another score as Ligonier Valley (8-0, 8-0) beat Blairsville (1-7, 1-7) in the District 6 Heritage Conference. Aaron Tutino added touchdowns on a 13-yard run and 59-yard punt return.
