Just days after winning a PIAA Class AAAA championship, members of the Norwin girls soccer team got more good news Monday.
A trio of seniors — forward Emily Harrigan, midfielder Lexy Kendro and keeper Sam Wexell — were selected to the Pennsylvania Soccer Coaches Association all-state team.
They were joined by Penn-Trafford senior midfielders Mackenzie Aunkst and Hannah Nguyen, as well as Waynesburg senior forward Madison Clayton, Moon senior forward Delaney Snyder, Baldwin senior forward Alina Stahl and South Park senior keeper Molly Snyder.
Several players from the WPIAL also were picked to the boys soccer all-state team.
The group included six forwards: Belle Vernon junior Markello Apodiakos, Seton LaSalle senior Darryl Daniels, Chartiers Valley senior Josh DiMatteo, Peters Township senior Bryce Gablehart, North Allegheny senior Josh Luchini and Butler junior Tate Mohney.
Four senior midfielders were honored: Montour's Nolan Hutter, Peters Township's Luke Kelly, Seneca Valley's Louis Newell and Central Catholic's Dan Schearer.
Bethel Park senior Dominic Galietta, Canon-McMillan senior Jonah Moore and South Park junior Zak Schwarzel were named all-state defenders, and Shaler senior Matt Potock was picked at keeper.
