Jeannette football coach Roy Hall, who was honored at a Coaches Corner Luncheon along with the other WPIAL championship coaches Tuesday, received a text message from Homer-Center coach Greg Page on Wednesday.

Hall said Page wanted to offer congratulations for winning a state title and how well Jeannette played in the PIAA Class A championship game. Jeannette defeated Homer-Center, the District 6 champion, 42-12, on Dec. 7 at Hersheypark Stadium.

It was Jeannette's second PIAA title, coming just weeks after the Jayhawks claimed a ninth WPIAL championship.

“That was nice of him,” Hall said. “When I first met Greg I could tell he was a class person. He said that because he wanted to talk after the game but there wasn't time and he hoped they could meet down the road.”

Page told Hall he hoped his team could stay with the Jayhawks, but he said Jeannette didn't make any mistakes. He added it was a privilege to play against Jeannette in the championship game.
