PIHL Penguins Cup playoffs roundup: Quaker Valley tops Shaler in overtime

Quaker Valley's Daniel Fagan scored 1 minute, 23 seconds into overtime to give the Quakers a 4-3 win over Shaler in the PIHL Class 2A play-in round Monday at Baierl Ice Complex.
Ben Kuzma, Beau Tomczak and Rico Fernandez also scored for the Quakers (10-9-1), who will play Latrobe (13-6) in the first round Thursday at Kirk Nevin Ice Arena.
Jason Fischerkeller, Cameron Wycich and Mitchell Werry scored for Shaler (10-9-2).
Franklin Regional 5, Mars 3 — Kevin Cakanac scored twice, including the go-ahead goal early in the third period and Franklin Regional (12-7-1) topped Mars (9-10-1) in a PIHL Penguins Cup Class 2A play-in game at Center Ice Arena.
The Panthers, who won the past two Class A championships before moving up to Class 2A this season, will play Armstrong (16-3) in a first-round game Thursday at Belmont Arena.
Nicholas Carretta also scored two goals for Franklin Regional. Patrick Roach scored twice for Mars.
Class AAA
Seneca Valley 4, Bethel Park 1 — Seneca Valley scored three times in the second period to secure a PIHL Class AAA Penguins Cup first-round win at Baierl Ice Complex.
Noah Watkiss, Andrew Dimond, Bryce Korner and Tyler Draper all scored for No. 2 Seneca Valley (13-4-2). Logan Johnson made 26 saves.
Vince Vituccio had a goal for No. 7 Bethel Park (7-10-2).
Class A
South Fayette 6, Chartiers Valley 3 — At Mt. Lebanon Recreation Center, Ian Kumar had a hat trick to lead No. 6 South Fayette (14-6-1) to a victory in the PIHL Class A play-in round. Augie Bishop, Daniel Pollock and Dante Cecere also scored for the Lions, who will play No. 3 Thomas Jefferson (17-3) in the first round Thursday.
Michael Sedlack scored twice for No. 11 Chartiers Valley (10-10-1).
Westmont Hilltop 4, South Park 3 — Corbin Ragno scored a short-handed goal on a breakaway in overtime to give No. 7 Westmont Hilltop (13-5-3) a PIHL Class A play-in round victory over No. 10 South Park (12-9) at 1st Summit Arena.
Division 2
Ringgold 4, Trinity 1 — Ryan Marek, Justin Day, Anthony Vavasori and Evan Eberlein all scored to lift No. 2 Ringgold (15-4) to a PIHL Division 2 first-round win at Rostraver Ice Gardens.
The Rams will play No. 3 Burrell (14-5) in the semifinals next Monday.
Moon 9, Central Valley 2 — Shawn Hytla, Zachary Wildasin and Logan Zarin all had two goals to lead No. 1 Moon (18- 1) to a PIHL Division 2 first-round victory at Baierl Ice Complex.
