Sharon was celebrating its first state championship appearance in six decades, but the Tigers found little else to cheer Monday night in Hershey.

Imhotep Charter's Dahmir Bishop scored 20 points, Bernard Lightsey added 13 and the Philadelphia powerhouse defeated Sharon, 71-35, in the PIAA Class 4A boys final at Giant Center. The state title was Imhotep's sixth since 2009.

Sharon last reached the state finals in 1957.

“Our kids deserved the right to be here, they earned the right to be here, we just got beat by a better team tonight,” Sharon coach Zach Sarver said. “There's no denying it, there's no other way of saying it. Imhotep is unbelievable. They're No. 6 or 7 in the country for a reason.”

Imhotep jumped to a 27-8 lead in the first half.

Elite Williams led Sharon (27-3) with 15 points.
