The WPIAL boys team tennis pairings for Class AAA and AA were released Tuesday, and Fox Chapel and Valley hope to make deep runs in their respective brackets.

Class AAA begins Wednesday, and the Foxes, the two-time defending WPIAL champions, are the No. 1 seed.

Fox Chapel, this year's Section 3 champ, is scheduled to host Chartiers Valley at 3:30 p.m.

The higher seed in both tournaments host each first-round contest.

The Class AA boys tournament starts Friday, and Valley is the No. 5 seed in the 16-team field.

The Vikings will take on No. 12 Mt. Pleasant at 3:30 p.m.

The two finalists in Class AAA will advance to the PIAA tournament, while the top three Class AA finishers move on to states.

The teams that lose in the Class AA semifinals will meet in a consolation match to determine the No. 3 qualifier.

Fox Chapel upended Peters Township in last year's final before advancing to the PIAA quarterfinals.

In 2016, the Foxes claimed the WPIAL title with a win over North Allegheny in the finals. They went on to fall to District 1's Lower Merion in the state championship match.

Valley is in the WPIAL team playoffs for the second season in a row. Last year, as the No. 4 seed, the Vikings went 1-1 with a 4-1 victory over Central Valley in the first round before a 3-1 loss to South Park in the quarterfinals.

Sewickley Academy, the No. 1 seed in Class AA, is gunning for its 14th straight team title and 23rd overall since the WPIAL split into AA and AAA divisions in 1993.
