Wednesday is a busy day for WPIAL administrators.

First on the schedule is the WPIAL annual meeting at the DoubleTree in Green Tree, where PIAA executive director Bob Lombardi will address administrators from member schools. It's here that the WPIAL also announces its scholarship winners.

Afterward, the WPIAL board of directors will hold its monthly meeting. On this month's agenda will be approving updated section alignments for spring sports.

Tennis tournament time

The WPIAL boys tennis tournament gets under way Wednesday with first-round matches in the Class AAA bracket where Fox Chapel is the defending champion.

Class AA starts Friday.

The sun will be shining

With forecasts calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the 50s, it's likely that WPIAL baseball and softball teams will be outside Wednesdays after two days trapped indoors. There's a heavy schedule for both sports.

Among the contests is a first-place baseball matchup between Freeport (6-0, 5-0) and host Knoch (5-0, 5-0) in Section 1-4A
