5 WPIAL boys to watch at the PIAA Class AA track and field championships

Here are five WPIAL boys to watch at the PIAA in Class AA track and field championships Friday and Saturday at Shippensburg.
Shawn Broadway, Derry, senior
Broadway is a returning PIAA placewinner in the 300 hurdles and is competing in both hurdles events, along with the 1,600-meter relay with teammates William Huss, Justin Huss and Elliot Kott. In the WPIAL meet, Broadway placed second in the 110 hurdles and fourth in the 300 hurdles. He is seeded third in the 110 hurdles.
Marlin Devonshire, Aliquippa, junior
Devonshire, a Division I football recruit, is one of the top sprinters in the state. He was the WPIAL champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
Tristan Forsythe, Winchester Thurston, senior
The returning PIAA 1,600-meter champion is seeded No. 1 in the state after winning the WPIAL title last week. His top time is 4:21.12. Juniata sophomore Garrett Baublitz is second with a time of 4:21.
Darius Johnson, Valley, senior
The two-time WPIAL high jump champion is seeded No. 1 in the state with a jump of 6 feet, 4 inches. There are five athletes who have jumped 6-4, including Hopewell senior Dantae Ranieri.
Daniel Layton, Waynesburg, junior
Layton is seeded No. 1 in the state in the 110-meter hurdles and also is competing in the pole vault, where he is seeded third behind Schuylkill Valley senior Joe Jardine (15-6) and teammate senior Will Behm, who set a WPIAL record of 14-10. He was the WPIAL champion in the 110 hurdles.
