Several members of the Fox Chapel boys lacrosse team recently received postseason accolades.

Five players were selected to the Section 3-AAA all-section squad — Zachary Yonas, Reed Seybolt, Bradley Root, Kenyon Weis and Graham Childs. Additionally, Childs was chosen to the All-WPIAL team and Weis was an Academic All-American.

The Foxes finished with a 13-5 record that included a 1-1 mark in the playoffs. The loss was to the eventual WPIAL champ, Peters Township. Three of the Foxes' losses were to teams that played in the championships of their respective divisions.

“Overall, our season was a huge success, and we continued to carry the forward momentum that our program has had in recent years,” FC coach Kevin Devinney said. “Our achievements include co-winning our section alongside North Allegheny and Shady Side Academy. Additionally. we also won our first playoff game since integration into the WPIAL.

“We graduated a successful group of eight seniors, all of who lettered and contributed positively to our achievements. Their leadership, smarts and contributions will leave us with a void that we need to fill next year.”

Devinney, however, is encouraged with the young players who will return next year.

“I think if we elevate our athleticism and shooting for next season, we could be a top five team in the WPIAL,” he said. “If our guys adhere to our strength and conditioning program and work on their shots, we will be a very strong team next year.”
