Former Central Catholic football star David Adams takes medical exemption at Notre Dame

Former Central Catholic linebacker David Adams, now a sophomore at Notre Dame, announced Tuesday on Twitter that he’s stepping away from college football to recover from a series of injuries.
Adams, who’ll remain on scholarship with a medical exemption, called it one of the toughest decisions of his life.
“It absolutely kills me to walk away from football, my true love,” he wrote. “However, these are circumstances that I cannot control. I prided myself on my work ethic and have spent countless hours perfecting my craft to be the best player I could and can be. I need very specific and deliberate rehab and training to get my body back to where it once was and beyond.”
His post included a lengthy list of injuries: concussions, surgery on both shoulders, knee surgery, a torn elbow ligament, a sprained knee ligament, chronic shin splints and patellar tendinitis.
Adams said his football future is “currently unknown.”
