Herald roundup: Fox Chapel girls tennis starts season 3-1

Fox Chapel girls tennis lost to Upper St. Clair, 3-2, on Aug. 23. Kristen Friday and Lexi Quackenbush posted wins in singles for the Foxes.

They bounced back to sweep Allderdice, 5-0, on Aug. 24. Carissa Shepard, Friday and Katie Voigt won in singles, and the duo of Leah Fetting and Baylin Bitar won at No. 1 doubles. The Foxes won second doubles by default.

They posted another sweep Aug. 27 with a 5-0 shutout of Plum to improve to 3-1. Friday, Shepard and Emily Fera each won by 6-0, 6-0 scores. In doubles, Lexi Quackenbush and Voigt won, 6-0, 6-0, as did Bitar and Paige Theoret.

Girls golf

Shady Side Academy girls golf opened its season with a 206-265 win over Kiski Area on Aug. 23. Charlotte Repp paced SSA with a 46. The Indians improved to 2-0 with a 203-218 win over Armstrong in a Section 4-AAA match on Aug. 28. Helena Wang and Catherine Jewart both shot a 50 to lead the Indians.

Boys golf

Led by Gregor Meyer and Scott Bitar, who each shot a 36, Fox Chapel boys golf improved to 3-0 with a 188-253 win over Penn Hills on Aug. 23. Will Livingston posted a 37, followed by Grant Thiele at 39 and Amani Dambrosio at 40.

*Shady Side Academy defeated Kiski Area, 186-229 in a Seciton 8-AAA match Aug. 24. Charles Troutman led the Indians with a 34, followed by Adam Lauer at 37, Jas Fuhrer and Brice Delaney at 38 and Grady Munroe at 39. The Indians posted another section win Aug. 28 as they defeated Mars, 204-216. Low medalist for SSA was Lauer with a 38.
