Player of the week

Tim Andrasy

Leechburg, Sr., RB/LB

Andrasy is a threat to break a big run with power in the Blue Devils offense, and he had a memorable impact in Friday’s 58-6 victory at Beth-Center. He had a career night with six rushing touchdowns, scoring on runs of 3, 10, 1, 4, 28 and 68 yards. He finished the game with 310 yards on 31 carries, and the yardage total was the second most in the WPIAL in Week 1. Andrasy also helped put points on the board on special teams with a game-opening 92-yard kickoff return. His seven total touchdowns tied a school record, a feat Braylan Lovelace accomplished in 2021 against Frazier and 2022 against Imani Christian. Andrasy hopes to keep rolling for the Blue Devils when they host Serra Catholic on Friday.

Players to watch

Kaden Levy

Riverview, Jr., RB/LB

The run game has helped power the Raiders to a 2-0 record with wins over Beth-Center and Valley, and Levy showed off his ball-carrying skills Saturday in his team’s shutout over the Vikings at Riverside Park. He helped extend a close Riverview lead with a pair of third quarter touchdown runs (6 and 1 yards). Levy then produced from his linebacker spot with an interception returned 35 yards for a score.

Owen Neistein

Freeport, Sr., WR/DB

The Yellowjackets offense can make its mark on the ground and through the air, and Neistein has shown he is a top target for quarterback Drew Ross. Neistein helped extend Freeport’s lead in Friday’s 49-6 nonconference rout of Derry with a 23-yard touchdown catch in the second quarter. Neistein expects to be a focus of the Quaker Valley defense when the teams meet this week.

Tevin Owen-Cratsenberg

Highlands, So., RB/LB

Owen-Cratsenberg’s varsity debut last year was highlighted by his impact on defense with 59 tackles and three sacks. Now he is looking to impact the Golden Rams from the offensive backfield. He was a workhorse in Highlands’ Week Zero triumph over Armstrong with 122 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. Owen-Cratsenberg scored again Friday in the Golden Rams’ loss to Elizabeth Forward and had a team-high 12 carries for 55 yards.
