Timmy Andrasy

Leechburg, Sr., RB/LB

Andrasy was at it again last Friday against Brentwood as the Blue Devils bounced back from a loss to No. 1 Clairton and clinched their fifth straight trip to the WPIAL playoffs. He powered his way through 39 carries as Leechburg (6-2) rallied from a six-point halftime deficit in what turned out to be a 48-41 Eastern Conference victory. Andrasy scored on TD runs of 62, 8, 6 and 4 yards and finished with a season-best 335 yards. Through eight games, he has 1,505 yards and 24 touchdowns on 192 carries. The yardage ranks third in the WPIAL behind Mars’ Ayden Yocum (1,607) and Bentworth’s Ben Hayes (1,646). Andrasy has played one less game because of the Springdale postponement from Week 5.

Players to watch

Andrew Finney

Kiski Area, Sr., WR/DB

Finney hopes to be a key factor this week as the Cavaliers (4-5, 3-2) try to clinch a berth to the WPIAL Class 5A playoffs with a victory over Big East Conference leader Woodland Hills. He came up big last week against Plum with an 85-yard touchdown reception to give Kiski Area a second-quarter lead. Finney finished with a team-best five catches for 110 yards.

Sloan Humphries

Plum, Sr., WR/DB

Humphries has proven to be a dependable receiver in the passing game for the Mustangs, who will battle rival Penn Hills with hope still alive for a spot in the WPIAL Class 5A playoffs. Humphries caught three passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in last week’s 29-12 victory over Kiski Area. He owns 22 catches for 359 total yards and a team-best five touchdowns through eight games.

Zac Myers

Apollo-Ridge, Jr., RB/LB

Myers again was part of a potent rushing attack that powered the Vikings to a 45-34 Allegheny Conference victory over South Park to clinch a spot in the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs. He carried the ball 11 times for 70 yards and a touchdown. For the season, Myers owns a team-best 90 carries for 397 yards (4.4 average) and two scores for Apollo-Ridge (6-3, 4-1).
